Too depressed to hug.

That's thrice in a row.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

i'd love a neoprene room in my house... a room where nothing else but neoprene is in there... just neoprene neoprene and more neoprene!

i don't JUST kill threads, i also apparently start fights with non-AS people on here. which is why i'm hanging out with the adults now. i think there are some parents on here that need to be moderated more than their children. :?

Welcome to threadkillers central, arkityp. :)

Always wiser to hang around with members on the spectrum, I think so, anyway. I prefer my own species

yeah i have this tendency too

although i don't mind speaking with anyone actually
the problem is that the reactions to my own input in a conversation is really very different,
from aspies i get a (for me) interesting reply, while non-aspies give me a 'uh' look, or tell me something (for me ) completely unrelated which does not feed the conversation very much, i feel then as some kind of martyr or so

welcome to the thread :D

i don't think that age is very important in communication, but mentality is.
(there are limits of course, i would not talk sex with young boys i guess)

some young people probably also deal with obsessional behaviour here (also in posting) and that seems to be something not very well dealt with at times, adults sometimes react in quite an inappropriate and arguing way (in my opinion) even if we know all how tough it was to wander in this world as a young aspie.
but that's a subject for a new topic perhaps?
;)

That would make for an interesting topic Lemon. :) Maybe to talk a bit about it here...

I feel that non-AS adults try and 'correct' youngsters here sometimes, like 'this is the appropriate way to behave/think/speak' whatever, when advice hasn't been asked for. Maybe they are trying to be helpful, but if it has the effect of shutting down the way a person with AS wants/needs to express him or herself (and WP surely is such a place where we can communicate relatively freely, without having to worry about being thought of as weird, so long as we learn not to be hurtful to other members) then it's unhelpful and leads the Aspie to think 'oh, even here I am unacceptable'...that is sad.

I agree, it is tough to wander in this world as a young aspie. And more helpful to say, 'your aspieness is OK/acceptable!' And help find ways around what is difficult when advice is asked for.

But people who say 'your problem is x and you should do y'...well, they even scare me and I've not been a youngster for a long time, lol. What's the word...dogmatism? No-one knows all the answers. Maybe to offer support as people search for their own answers is a better way?
