Support groups are good. So far my favorite is right here.

The thing is, what support can they offer or can you expect?

Most people don't know much about it and if they look it up, they see there is no cure and no therapy. All you can do is treat comorbidities like anxiety and depression and maybe do some very focused CBT to help develop techniques for getting past (or around, over or under) obstacles, when those obstacles are amenable to change through behavior modification.

I have always had a hard time connecting with my extended family. Now they know why. They seem to appreciate that my "liking" their photos on Facebook is about as friendly as I can usually be and they are being much friendlier in response to my small gestures to them. But I will never flow into their social world the way they do. Nothing they can do about it. Nothing I can do about it. Trying mostly just makes me tired and I don't want to.
