I used to, but that was a long time ago. I also worked in radio. I did production work and a little writing. I did marketing and promotions in radio.

Is that the area you're interested in, Alex?

Rjaye.

Yeah, that's what I do for a living and I'm getting a BA in Film and Video studies from GMU.

I just got hired as an employee by the largest production studio in DC.

I used to do a lot of anthropological video at uni, ethnographies were my specialty. We had a TV studio there and I did a lot of producing, but like Rjaye, it was like 12 years ago when I was in school.

groan, wheeze. .
I am too old to be working this hard, and I am sure I will be REEEEELLLY thinking this in 10 years when I want to climb into Social Security and just sleep.

well, what all that means is I am doing 4 10s shift this 90 day rotation and trying to get used to it. So far that means coming home and crawling into bed to wake up around 2:30 AM and be bright and perky, only to post on WP for an hour or two and then lie back down for a 'nap' and wake up in time to shower, coffee and get out the door for another day again.

any one else have some tips for working the 10 hour? (and not YOU, Chuck, you eat 10 hour shifts for BREAKFAST!)
Just kidding, Chuck, you probably have the best tips!
Merle

4 10's? That's tough. I like the idea of 3 12's, myself. Did you choose this schedule? How long will you be doing it? If it's just short-term, it's different planning and coping than if you're going into this long-term.

Also, are they combined? If so, that's easier in a way, and you should be enjoying a weekday off, which is a nice time to get shopping etc. done.

When I worked full-time nights, I allowed myself to sleep whenever I needed, and didn't pressure myself to get much done during my off-time.

Goes off to find a youtube video of Brudda Iz for those of you with sound...

Going to have to post now, before I go home, because I might not get to a computer later.

5 hours of meetings, followed by a bit of a faux pas by being sarcastic about my boss's pet project just as he walked through the door

But hey, nothing new for me

Me either. Isn't it ironic that the one time you do something you maybe shouldn't, you get caught? Like you work conscientiously for 8 hours straight and then decide to leave 5 minutes early because you didn't take one single break, and your boss walks by your office as you're walking out, and looks at his watch...

Good for you, Alex!! What are you going to be doing? What's cool is that it's in Washington, DC.

I have been thinking of doing a documentary, and I'll look into that this summer. Have you done any independent stuff for yourself? I've seen your vid on the other thread.

And everyone--go to that YouTube that Aylissa has on her post. Brudda Iz is the bomb, though he's not with us any more. The most beautiful voice, and the greatest interpretation of songs I've ever heard. Lissa was not kidding about this man. Iz is the greatest!

Does anyone here know anything about being a medical transcriptionist from home? I need a job at home that doesn't involve small children. If I have to do this much longer I'll lose it!

have you checked out http://www.monster.com/ or some similar sites? Did a quick search and many said "no experience necessary"
