Anxiety Attacks
I did not know what these were - but they are getting worse, but not regular.
I suffered an incredible attack last year after a work related hatchet job done on me. I really thought I was having a heart attack
Anyone else or is this Aspie/HFA dominant?
same thing happened to me both times that i did pot, first time it lasted 12 hours where my heart sped up and raced nonstop for 12 hours i thought i was gonna have a heart attack at the end of it i called an ambulence and they gave me xanax and it immediately went away, i thought it was laced with something, but the xanax working meant i was just having a panic attack, no weed for me

That happened to me once or twice a long time ago when I was at a party and smoked pot and started feeling like I was having a panic attack. But without the panic and felt like I didn't care. But that was along time ago and I haven't smoked pot since 10 yrs. Althought I don't think it is bad to smoke it. It cleared up my sinuses. It is also good for glaucoma and cancer and IBS.

One of the curious things about autism is how we have opposite reactions to drugs
to NT's.Does anyaspy have links to studies about this?
Pot,yes, definitely makes me more anxious,nervous,scatter-brained & rock severely.
I've been clean for 2 months now - Never again
Frosty,Cool avatar,but i saw it first
I have cured my anxiety, without drugs
I got the idea from Temple Grandin's Hug Machine.
I started a thread here to explore the idea & a WP'er called Lelia posted this:
When I say we, I mean me and a friend after we went to one of Temple's lectures in Anchorage. We drove back to North Pole problem solving all the way (and what a high that was!) and then told her husband who ran an HVAC business what we wanted. We did the sewing and velcro straps and he did the machinery. That was fifteen years ago. After four or five years of use, she didn't want to use it any more, so we dismantled it and gave away the pieces. I can't recall how the mechanical pieces worked. I'm sorry I can't give you more detail, but maybe you can find an HVAC guy who could make something similar for you.
We sent the bag to her school, and when she got upset, she would sometimes use it. Other times she assaulted everyone she could reach. It's so nice to see her relaxed and happy in her own home now. And since we are the landlords, no one will ever make her move.
I found an Aspy support group & we modified the idea to accomodate adults.(I'm 40)
It works
I was anxiety free for 24 hours the first time,48 the second & 5 days the last time.
It's Fantastic being anxiety free & drug-free.I only tried one medication for anxiety
it made me constipated and didn't work
& finding out about all the complications and side-effects & experimentation & on-going costs really put me off.
Temple Grandin's Hug Machine costs $5000.00+
This has cost me,so far,in Australian dollars:
$100.00 for the air-compressor,
$60.00 for a king-size air-matress
$94.00 for a 3 meter long piece of carpet,
$37.00 for custom-made connection between the mattress plug & the air-compressor.
The hardest part was finding a support group that would help, and roll me up in the carpet,
and controll the air-compressor.
Try it guys, the best thing is its a reducing therapy - the more you use it,the less you need to!

Panic attacks have eased up a lot. They seem to come in levels of the stress of the day, which are multiplied by days of the constant stress, build ups to long periods of triggered panic attacks. A lot of reasons for them and I know doing somethings and being in some places are high stress for me and avoid them when I can, places that seem to be the trigger. My down periods, as in unwinding and that doesn't mean a few days or a few hours always, goes a long ways in what I can handle before the pressure has built to the panic attacks. Med I have helps just for the times I know I'm going to enter a high stress area or when the stress is just building up from general things around me, things beyond my control. They're pretty much gone at the moment, but I don't rule out they'll be back at some point. Optical migraines can still set them off, even though I know what they are now.

I have experienced tremendous progress in recent months in this area, using Albert Ellis' REBT approach. Basically (1) it is not the event that disturbs us, but the way we react to it, and (2) our brains consistently make mistakes in their thinking. His books are great. Here's an introduction; www.rebt-cbt.net, or just search on 'Albert Ellis REBT'. You can eradicate those attacks, you really can. In the UK the national health service is pushing these sorts of therapies to solve depression and anxiety, because it has been finding they actually work!

I fixed it -http://www.rebt-cbt.net/
I think this applies more to Post Traumatic Stress Dis-Order,which I don't have,
but for my Generalised Anxiety Disorder, when i use the Compression Therapy idea
I talked about above, the cure is Instant
