Could this be why relationships are so hard these days?

"Truth In Adverstising" as applied to "Lonely-Hearts" articles:

Quote:
60-ish, grumpy, opinionated, obese, financially challenged male with questionable hygeine seeks 20-ish female who must be cheerful, gullible, 5'4", 36DD-22-34, 128#, naturally blonde, blue-eyed, smell nice, healthy, wealthy, and enjoy sex, cooking, cleaning, and sex. Submit resumé, full-body photograph, medical records, scholastic GPS, credit check and financial statement to...

This could be easily checked out by comparing relationship problems of countries with different med uptakes. I imagine the UK is high, but assume the US consumes more.

If anything, I'd suggest it's the other way round: that we're largely driven to anti-depressants because of relationship problems.

I wonder if it's cos people these days have had too many sex partners.

Surely for depression it's more likely to be 'not enough' than 'too many' :?

You're screwed either way. Depression tends to inhibit one's libido and ability to feel love (not to mention the myriad other ways in which it negatively impacts relationships). And the meds basically do the same thing!

Actually, I have found that daily exercise and creative expression (playing music, writing, etc) are more effective in alleviating and preventing depression than any of the meds I've tried. Even better, exercise is good for your sex drive, and creative pursuits can be a good way to meet people. :D

Me too. :D Drs should prescribe a new guitar and a pair of walking shoes.
