I suppose I will just do the Lands End preppie style and hope it comes across at least a little better than I formally dressed.
I like Lands End's women's cotton T shirts. They have a bit more style to them and the fabric has a better body to it than more the more causal T shirts one finds in any men's department. The long sleeved ones seem a bit more dressy than the short sleeved ones.
I'm not one to wear much jewelry but about 15 years ago I started collecting scarves in cotton, rayon, and silk to dress up my Land's End T shirts.
I have a very large collection of T shirts that have printed advertisements of concerts and festivals I've attended, but I never wear them unless I'm attending a concert or festival.
I started that habit about 15 years ago too.
About 15 years ago I also started wearing slacks made out of denim or other simple cotton fabrics but with an elastic waist. They seem a bit more dressy than regular jeans but not so much that I always look too dressed up.
Another reason I switched from regular blue jeans was they were difficult for me to shorten. Even when I bought "petite" sizing I'd end up needing to shorten them an inch or two
and I broke way too many needles on my sewing machine trying to match up the traditional blue jean stitching.
My elastic waisted denim slacks look fine when shortened by hand.
About twenty years ago I started making (sewing) simple skirts to wear. Even a simple T shirt looks a bit more mature when worn with a skirt.
They're a lot more comfortable in the summer than shorts and I've yet to be called a "dyke" while wearing one.
