in kindergarten, i wanted to be a ballerina due to a book. in second grade, i decided to go into medicine also due to a series of books called the jungle doctor. i actually practiced medicine for 9 years before my inability to deal with hospital politics caught up with me and i lost my license. now i am pursuing nursing, the next best thing.

I never thought in terms of the future when I was a kid, I just wanted to stay the way I was for everything else to stay the same too.

i wanted to be a cat. a house cat specifically. even more specifically, a house cat living in a house in the woods and is able to go in and out of the house at whim, going on adventures and being independent, but then also being able to come home to loving friends and get cuddles and free food.

because that was obviously a fantasy, the first "real" thing i wanted to be was a biological researcher.

I wanted to either have my own shop or be a race car driver. I also kind of wanted to be a teacher

I had a few ideas as a kid.

Working in some field that involves nuclear energy, a physicist, video game designer, a writer, an architect or city planner or working in a power station (I had a really weird obsession with power stations as a kid >.<).

I wanted to make animated films....

and lo and behold, I came to do just that.

however, my feelings towards my career choice are more ambiguous now.

When I was a kid, all I wanted to be was an adult.

That ain't no lie! I really had no ambition, otherwise!

In chronological order:

1) Veterinarian (I love animals and wanted to "save all of them" -- I was pretty idealistic)
2) Astronaut (on account of space being "cool" and all that)
3) Video game developer/programmer (around middle school after watching a ton of G4's "Icons" series)
4) Software engineer (more realistic version of the above)
5) Chemical engineer (I loved chemistry in middle and high school)
6) Biomedical engineer (chemistry + biology + math/physics = dream -- or so I thought)
7) Neurosurgeon (I was obsessed with the brain ever since I was a kid; it felt right for me)

I am working on my MS in Neuroscience right now, so I would say I am closer to my dream. Medical school still intimidates me, though, due to an ongoing fear of the MCAT and an undergraduate GPA at the low end of admission committee's recommendations.
