I am 44 and I look in my twenties, thirties at most. I have a very young sounding voice too, I knew some totally blind people and they thought I was younger than my age as well. I tend to let people think I'm younger than I am because I feel like my life's been a bit of a failure and I don't want them questioning why I don't have a 'normal' life at my age. Then I feel bad because it's like I'm lying to them even though I've never actually SAID I'm thirty.

I'm wearing teenage clothes right now, but I'm 47. Black converse, skinny jeans, a long, narrow t-shirt. I'm not trying to fool anybody, just like how it looks.

This is interesting to read. I am in my early 30's but look at least ten years younger than I am, if not younger. Is there really a connection to AS?

BTW I am new here. Hoping to meet some neat people! :)

I am the same way.I like being in my 30s,feel so comfortable with myself, how about you? It used to annoy me that people thought I was young, but now I'm fine with it.What really got to me was people calling me "cute" all the time. That's what you call a toddler, not an adult ! :x
I'm not sure if it is connection to AS or not...I'll go research now!

Same here, I am much more comfortable with myself now that I am older. Discovering I was born with asperger's in my mid-20's helped with that, I think. When I was a little munchkin I spoke like an adult so I was constantly mistaken by strangers to be a grown woman over the phone, lol. :D

Sadly, yes. My height is the main thing. People I work with at the college asked last Sunday if I was in high school or college. I'm 20. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive about this kind of thing. It just never made me feel good, like being short was something else wrong with me. I'm sure I'll appreciate it someday when I'm in my 60's on up, but that's not for a while.

I'm 6ft 2in tall (have been since I was around 13), trust me it's not all it's cracked up to be, if I didn't have what seems like a skull fashioned from Adamantium then I'd have probably knocked myself into a coma by now. I've lost count of the amount of things I've cracked my head on.

Back on topic: I'm 29 and if I've shaved then I get asked for ID for cigarettes/alcohol although at the last gig I played I did get asked for ID by one of the bouncers despite having a beard on the go, the other one saved my skin by informing him that I'd done several gigs at the venue and was alright to go in. I also regularly get on the bus for a child's (19 or under) fare without question.

I've been told several times that I look younger than I actually am. Some of them have said it's because I don't dress very fashionably or wear much make-up (natural chap stick is all I ever wear).

I'm 26 ATM (Will be 27 in April), and yeah, I guess I do. Given the way I dress, it's no surprise. (I wear jerseys and baseball caps, sometimes both are worn together. :D)

I'm 39 and I've been asked for ID twice in the last month, buying wine at the supermarket. :?

I don't think I look my age, but I didn't think I looked that young either.

I'm 52 and I'm always told I look like I'm in my late thirties or early forties. I can rarely tell a person's age by their appearance. Is there something connected with AS and looking younger?

When I was in my teens, I was told I looked like I was in my mid-twenties, but since my mid-twenties, I've been told I look younger. I think I look my age.

If I cover up my faded tattoos and the lighting is dim enough so that my silver flecks of hair aren't obvious, I can pass for someone in their early 20s. I look younger still if I remove my glasses.

The law here requires smokers to be 18 years old before purchasing cigarettes. I still get asked to prove my age, despite being 32.

I've been told that when I shave my beard off, I look like I'm around 16-17 years old, even though I'm 20. :P

I am 31 and was recently told I could pass for 16. I love getting carded at the liquor store.

It's funny you mention that, just the other day I stopped by the liquor store to pick up a six pack, and I was carded for the first time in over a month. Turns out the store I went to had a few problems with underage kids buying from them, and they started cracking down.

I get carded for cigarettes occasionally and almost always for alcohol.

A couple weeks ago I was out drinking with my brother (who is 23) and some girl asked us if we were twins. We said "no, brothers but not twins" and she didn't inquire further, but seeing as my brother is a lot bigger than I am and is able to grow a beard (which I cannot) I can almost guarantee that if she did she would have guessed I was the younger one.

On average, people seem to think I'm 23-25.
