I did a search for both of your posts and got a bit worried when I realized Starr hadn't posted anything since that post ^ above in January.
It was 12.30 at night on a Saturday night for me and I was a bit :drunken: !
I worry. :(

Anyway, it's great to see you both back on here ! :D
Try and post a bit more often, will you guys?
You're both missed, but I will try to remember that you are enjoying your busy lives.
(Think Positive, syzo!)

You may want to drop in here and say Hi :

^ :D !

I often wondered when I saw your posts saying "I have to go to school"
if you we're a student or teacher.
Now I know (I saw your post in the "The Dino-Aspie Ex-Café (for Those 40+... or feeling creaky") and I am going to hand myself a plate full of kudos for inspiring it !

I have been thinking a lot recently about Autism and it's place in society.
Teachers, I think, are one of the foundation points.
The people that have inspired me most (Godwit, Icarus Falling and wsmac)
were all, in their own way, inspirational !

(Woops, I'm rambling ! )
(That's alright, Lead on Mcduff! :P )

So, here's my theory :
The history of mankind has lived in a stable population as Hunter/Gatherers.
Aspies assumed roles as Wise Men, Witch Doctors, Shamen, Yogis and developed a mindset that would allow all to come to peace with the way of the world

All of a sudden, over the last ten thousand years,
society has cast aside the wisdom of the ages
and now every individual is being calculated on his 'work output'
(I saw that in real life when I hired a friend from my Aspy group to work for me,
his minders sacked him because he couldn't make the 50% workplace challenge!)
This horrible meme means that there IS NO SPACE FOR LEARNING FOR IT'S OWN SAKE OR INSIGHT!

So, a culture of dominance sprang up
It dominated everything
Nothing is beyond it's sphere of influence
Artists are only 'valuable' if they make sales
Teachers are only 'valuable' if their students win prizes

etcetera - this leads to bankers jumping off buildings when the stock market crashes!

 I think I got carried away for a bit !
also, I didn't make my point!
I can't remember what it was right mow, but i'm sure I had one!

Hehe, nice thread this, it makes me laugh :D

I've not been very well lately (OK to have a moan here I think :-)) I've been tired/ill for about 6 months so I've not been posting much. Just got the diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease, an under-active thyroid, which is treatable. Still waiting for the return of some energy. (Need my own wind farm, hehe)
Can I make a plea to everyone to not cut out salt entirely from their diet - I know it's been getting a bad press in recent years but the thyroid needs some salt(iodine really) to work properly.

The Fool is my favourite archetype. In myths they are usually outcasts or court jokers, but usually have their own wisdom. They stay young too, even into old age. Humour + wisdom, very cool combination 8)

Not sure I had a point really...nice to say hello though :flower:

...I'm wondering now...should I have classed the entrance area as a room? It is a room but probably not a 'room' in the proper sense of the word, so then the room number would be 6...but...my husband treats the shed as a room, so I'll leave it as 7...unless you would count the loft as a room? Hmm...see how easy it is for Aspies to get 'hung up' on things. Let it go Starr! I'm sure Lemon will give you a gold star anyway

Not while the thread has a shred of life left (try saying that fast after a few pints of Guinness on St Patrick's Day)
