Night Zanne! erm, sweet dreams?

Uh, oh. Wrong Planet's server must be going down. Happens every night about this time over here. Does this happen to eveyone else, or is it my home computer?

Whoa! I was stuck in some other dimension. Someone must have put a drop of alcohol into my tea.

I believe that the "ringing sound" is not coming through my ears, but is actually chemical activity inside my brain which is being interpreted by my brain as sound.

This leads me to the following hypotheses:

1. Our brains produce more than the normal amount of histamine (than is found in "normal" brains).
2. We have sleep related problems.
3. We have the ability to concentrate well and stay awake when we are interested in whatever we are working on.
4. We all have tinnitis. It's us hearing our own brains humming along, not a problem with our hearing.
5. Lau's theory of "plastic use" in our brains is supported***
6. We are smarter than the average bear.

(I can vouch for 2 & 3, but #6 is my favorite)
Chuck wrote:
These hypotheses can be tested in the following manner: if you take a small-size chemical antihistamine [Benadryl (diphenhydramine)- which is small enough to pass the blood brain barrier filter] the ringing should diminish or stop.

Anyone with a day to waste willing to take a Benadyl (diphenhydramine 25mg) and report the effect it has on your tinnitis? (note: it will make you groggy/sleepy/unable to think well for 6 hours).

***Lau's theory made me rethink my ADD medication's effect on my brain:
Not on the med: I can do math in my head, but have trouble processing sounds, and I see in tunnel vision. When thinking hard I don't see, hear, feel, or have sense of time.
On the med: I can hear, can see in panoramic view, but can't do the math in my head, or do deep thinking.

Perhaps my ADD medication "locks" my brain functions (and areas) into their normal "traditional" roles. Without the medication, my vision, auditory, and other brain areas can abandon their normal roles and "pitch in" whenever necessary (contributing an "all hands on deck" to whatever it is that I am involved in).

Quite impressed with your brain theories, Chuck; I think you're onto something. And since it is 1:30 am here in New Jersey, I've just taken 50 mg Benedryl (which my pharmacist recommended for sleep, to my surprise.) So, either I'll report on my tinnitus, or fall asleep; it's win-win! Thanks, Chuck, I hope it puts me to sleep too*; however, this doesn't usually work, especially when I'm interested in what I'm doing, I'll fight it and stay up all night (demonstrating #3 above...)

edit: I submitted this at 1:36 am Friday morning ET, but it says 3:36 pm Friday afternoon. Is the WP server in Australia? (That would explain why so many of you are here...) As my daughter would say, DUH! Sometimes I'm slow to catch on.

* response to the next post down! Time-travel proven! :D

One of my brain-fart tail-chasings, more than likely. But I hope the Benadryl helps you sleep Tomart. I'm getting cross-eyed myself. Just downed some tea in an effort to stay up for the party, but it hasn't kicked in. Oh well, almost time for the other side of the world to be waking up and start posting :) Hope that you've been doing ok.

Fuzzy, welcome! Sorry I'm crashing and burning. It was very nice to meet you!

Merle, I loves ya. :) Hope you are ready to move and that your new home will be good to you and Mukushla. I love all of your posts. Good luck with your "fiction". :)

I think a lot of server/hub/node/ISP/web backbone maintenance goes on at night. Sometimes my ISP (local here in NJ) cuts out completely after midnight, and that's just when their tech support line shuts down, thus avoiding my irate calls...

What party?

Who's Fuzzy?

I heard scratchy sounds in my head that didn't exist outside of it coming off of Paxil. Nasty stuff, that is.

I don't hear sounds that don't exist otherwise, but maybe that's because I always have to have something making sound, like a fan, to block out other sounds. Oh, unless it's really quiet. Because then it's really noisy in my head.

I'm still up and running, computer wise. It has said all day at the top:
A lot of people are using Wrong Planet at the moment. We apologize for any page
load delays you may experience during this period.

And all that does is make me think I'm constipated.

We're trying on swimsuit and shorts and t-shirts in the gaming lounge. Come on over.

I never told the story of me cutting the Jersey Turnpike telephone cable line? Huh, thought I did. Doesn't count, I did it in the day light.

Party? Gaming lounge? The changing of clothes? I'm interested. We have anything in polyester? Look good with my cheap sunglasess. Gonna be a sharp dressed man.

Lemon - a little fantasy never hurt. That's what Mistress Zanne is all about! LOL Isn't it funny I didn't play dress up or dolls when I was a kid, but once I got married, I realized the value of dressing up and pretending. I just needed inspiration!

Maybe if I could paint I wouldn't need that. When are you going to make a site so I can by a wall size painting of your avatar?

They found a new planet that can sustain life. Hopefully we can all move home soon.

are you talking about my avatar?
i don't have it wall-size but i can send a normal-page size version if you'd like to (i have a special e-mail address for that, i send you the mail-address and the password and than you can go and fetch it)
i'm not into selling yet, love to one day, but will postpone that for a while i guess, i decided to do a master next year(but not in literature, it'll be something like 'multimedia and communication'), instead of stopping at the bachelor as i wanted earlier this year.

NO THANKS ! ! I have enuf problems without whiny parents PM'ing me.
For me, It's the Dino Cafe All The Way ! !

(Now can we get back to deviate sex??????)

i never liked the parent's forum either, although i do have questions about being a parent but there is a weird athmosphere there, it's much better in here.
but i also do the art-forum, check the computerforum to see if there's something interesting, like to look at the pictures once in a while(if you'd want to see me as an innocent 25-year :D : old http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... c&start=90)
and i did quite a few random-topics before and sometimes when i really have some time i have a walk just anywhere.

but it seems(cannot decide it for sure yet, cause i need more time to be sure) that you dino's are the most interesting people i've talked with ever...

Post, for you I have selected a gold lame (notice lame is an anagram of male) thong.

That would be "lah-MAY" not "layme"

I had to look at your profile first, as you have a lady avatar.

Please don't do that. Gender confusion confuses others.

I have picked out the most stylish ensemble for CockneyRebel. She, in turn, has picked out something I'm hoping will draw attention away from the rest of me.

Ahem.

But, with your preference for polyester, I have instead changed it to a golden color poly with the holographic golden dots. When/if the sun hits the dots, it will cause blindness or swooning. Worse case scenario, no one will notice. However, we, the Aspies, notice anything holographic and will fall at your feet.

Not sure if that falling is due to the abundance of blinding holographic dots in the sun, or simply those darned invisible things that I often trip over. Those invisible things, they are everywhere. Right up there with moving walls.

I brought holographic glitter. Wanna see?

A little late with this one. We had been talking about German heritage and the like, this is some of mine. This would be my Great Grandfather and Mother and family, just before leaving Buda-Pest. Meet the Jung family. Great Grandfather was from Germany.

Larson would be the rest of the family name on that side, he hailed from Denmark. Sea farin man, I don't really know how much he was around and not off to sea. I suspect not much. Pretty much left my Step Great Garndmother in Hell's Kitchen, little bit of an Irish woman. She must have been a scraper of sorts to pull it off. I have no idea who my real Great Grandmother was, nor does anyone else in the family.

Oh what a tease  Ah but the mystery with the tease. I can stand it, just builds the suspense now doesn't it. You might be very surprised what I consider beauty, my attention would be right where it belonged. True, I do like the shiny things, but again, you might be surprised what I see as shiny. All that glitters is not gold.

Ah yeah, but when I have to look at my avatar, I'd rather look at a woman then a man. Not to worry, I change often. As the avatar is someone my Grandfather knew, I'm interested in her face, she's shiny to me. I seem to be entranced with the past for a while.
