I am 26 but people usually guess 17-18. A few times I've not been able to buy cigg or beer, because they think its my older and non-existing brother on my ID.

Is this something related to Autism? Using the number of posts in this thread is not a good source. Any scientific paper?

OMG YES!! !!

i get this all the time, i look a LOT younger than my age. Frequently people make this observation of me. Often i'm mistaken for a college or uni student. So when i tell them i'm nearly 30, i get one of two reactions

a) they don't believe me
or
b) shock and surprise and 'wow, you really don't look it, you look about 17/18/early 20s at most.

But i think its because my emotional maturity for most things is a lot younger than my age. So it's the level of a mature teen. But then there's some things in which i surpass my peers level of maturity. So it's swings and roundabouts. But also i dress quite young aswell, my style.
But it's what i feel comfortable in.

Put me n the right clothing, and you'll never really know that I am the age that I am. You'd think I was stil a teenager. Secretly, I enjoy the fact that I look as young as I am not. It makes me feel pretty good about myself. :-)

Yes because I'm only 5"2 and I dress Goth/Punk (much eyeliner and colorful hair) - which is good cause less people talk to me

I'm in my mid 50s, so I can't kid myself that I look anything like a teenager! But I still occasionally get people of around my own age addressing me as "Young man".

It amuses me, or annoys me, depending on the mood I'm in.

According to the most recent of my medical records (the interview part) from of a few months ago, I look like I'm in my late teens. I'll be 30 this November. I don't know if not ever wearing makeup (or high heels) play any part in that assessment but it might. I haven't asked or been told by any random people what age I look so I can only go by what doctors have written on the subject.

I don't drink, but the idea that I would be asked for ID at my age more than my peers if I did is amusing, though I suppose if I did drink it would be annoying.

Also I'm 5' 3" though I've seen other adults my height and shorter that clearly look like adults so at some point I might look like an adult too.

I'm 29, and people I don't know always think I'm a teenager. They will make me take my ID out of my wallet and check it to make sure its not fake, haha. I never knew that this was a trait.

I am 24. People who encounter me without knowing me typically think I am 14-16 years old.

A year ago, when I was 23 and my sister was 21, someone thought she was my mother... I really don't know how that one happened.

When I was a teen people always guessed me older than I was. I'm now 42. 2 years ago I had a young woman age 20 hit on me thinking I was her age. Great for the self-esteem however when I shared this with the wife thinking it was funny, she was most definitely not amused. I'm a nurse so I tend not to wear a ring at work.

I'm 24, a girl, 5'1. I could easily pass for fifteen. I had a cab driver earlier this year who thought I was thirteen, he asked me why I was out so late at night, and if my parents knew where I was, he thought I was lying when I told him he had it wrong by ten years! What's weird is that it works the other way too, sometimes people assume I'm in my late twenties, but only after having spoken to me for a bit (i.e. not at first glance). I once dated someone for three months before the subject came up, he didn't believe that I was only 21 until I showed him my ID (he'd thought I was 27-28 ). Anyone else get this too? Looking much younger than you are but being mistaken for older?

I'm 28 but people say I look much younger, like in my early twenties. I don't see why that's the case.

I finally grew a beard at 32 so I would not look like a "kid" or teenager. People still think in early twenties and call me a kid at construction sites. I'm 33 now.
A weird factoid, I didn't get armpit hair till I was 19, no facial hair till after 21. People think I shave my arms because I have blonde peach fuzz on my arms. To this day I have one cotton ball sized tuft of chest hair. Not at all hairy as a male. Any other guys like this?

Last night I had four different women(!) hit on me while I was playing outdoor sports. Three of them were probably not older than 23. I think that's a sign I look like I am in my mid to late 20s. There is also a guy on my team that I went to the liquor store with (32) and he got ID'ed and I did not. I would have carded him too although it's mostly because of his dress and mannerisms.
