Oh man! The work on the Particle Collider is delayed! I wish I could go see it. <sigh> Maybe when I'm dead they can send my body through it and break me up. It's either that or blast me into space.

When they blasted Timothy Leary into space I thought it put a whole new twist to Acid Rain.

Timothy Leary is dead.

Ooooonnnnn the outside, looking in.

This may be neither here nor there, but since I am also in that displaced state at times, why not.

A theme song for Post Whores, a little polka:

I don't want her you can have her
She posts too much for me, yeah
She posts too much for me, yeah
She posts too much for me, Oh
I don't want her you can have her
She posts too much for me, Yeah
She posts too much
Much too much
She posts too much for me.

Dsylexic fingers must be contageous
I had a hell of a time typing the above.

Can't remember the rest of the words to that right now but it seemed appropriate. Popped into my head, any way.

Ask and ye shall receive!

Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game

She's walking down the street
Blind to every eye she meets
Do you think you'll be the guy
To make the queen of the angels sigh?

Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you, let me jump in your game

She holds her head so high
Like a statue in the sky
Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long
When she moves my brain screams out this song

Sidewalk crouches at her feet
Like a dog that begs for something sweet
Do you hope to make her see you, fool?
Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?

Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello
I want you
Hello
I need my baby
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello

Had to put this on a CD I burned for my wife - both because I meant every word of it, and because I was amused by the "dusky jewel" line (she's black, you see, and pretty dark, at that...) :)

(In case you were wondering, the lead track was "You Are the Love Of My Life", by Sammy Kershaw, and the last track was "At the Speed Of Love", by Rush. I'd have to pull the CD out again if I wanted to know the order of the other tracks.)

Oh, also, Postperson, I didn't post in your thread because I only post when I have something to say - but sometimes, all I have to say is a song lyric (I can't help it - mention the song, the lyrics fill my head, I have to get rid of them somehow!) or a smartass comment. You didn't seem to welcome contributions like that, so I didn't make any.

I poached it from a Simon & Garfunkel song. It should read: My life is unreal, my crime an illusion ...

But I thought I'd adapt it to fit :)

Very cool, Deacon.

How many songs by Steely Dan?

Thanks, Deacon. Now I won't have to go around all day tring to recall the rest of the words. The Kershaw track is really beautiful, and really says what a woman loves to hear and know. Your wife is lucky to have such a thoughtful guy.

I'm sitting in the railway station.
Got a ticket for my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And every stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Tonight I'll sing my songs again,
I'll play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Silently for me.

It's so nice to be able to chat with you all while I'm getting ready for work. It's like living in a dorm or a commune, or better yet, visiting one of those old European cafes where the writers and artists hung out. It fills a need, this place. It does indeed Bye for now. Hope everyone has a pleasant, peaceful and productive day.

None on that CD, as it happens - hadn't gotten the "Citizen Steely Dan" collection yet.

Cosmiccat, actually, she introduced that song to me. One of the others she liked on there was Rush's "Madrigal", a song whose lyrics I sent her in an email early in our relationship:

When the dragons grow too mighty
To slay with pen or sword
I grow weary of the battle
And the storm I walk toward
When all around is madness
And there's no safe port in view
I long to turn my path homeward
To stop a while with you

When life becomes as barren
And as cold as winter skies
There's a beacon in the darkness
In a distant pair of eyes
In vain to search for honor
And in vain to search for truth
But these things can still be given
Your love has shown me proof...

I know I said I was going, but one more quickie before I run out the door. One of the nicest things my husband ever said to me was "Don't worry, Babe, I'm not going to philander with anyone but you." He's a man of a few words, but he manages to get the important ones across.

Good day, all :D . Once again, I appear to be late. Story of my life. I'll just grab a seat, have a Chocolate Caramel Chai Tea and hang for awhile. (Or is that what they call lurking?) I'm have no idea what lurking is or what a troll is. I'm a "computer virgin" apparently.

So, I ask you, which is right?

Bogy-skep.

OED.
BOGY 7. attrib. and Comb., as bogy-man, -word, etc.
SKEP 2. A basket or hamper, varying in form and use in different localities.

So. Either a hamper in which to keep pixies or a basket carried by goblins.
Possibly of use when traversing a "pesky bog".
