I do! I do! The classic "Blinded By the Light" (Manfred Mann) seems to be a Mondegreen Factory:

Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
Another troller in the night...

LOL That one is pretty funny.

Who diagnosed you? Like what type of doctor?

Where?

When?

September 2006

How did it affect your life?

One meltdown too many led me to retreat from everything. Now I've been accepted for post grad study. I feel more accepting of myself now, although ths can ebb and flow on a daily basis. Sometimes I can see how work, relationships etc. may not be beyond me. Partly because I have read of others experiences, from books and WP.

Did you know about Asperger's before?

Yes, since around 2002, but didn't seek it out till 2005. I'd read psychology books since I was a teenager , late 1970's, hoping I'd find a way to relate to life.

Did you seek out the diagnosis?

Yes. Felt I had no choice at that stage.

Good for you!

Thanks Merle for the mondegreens. I always read them excitedly, and then am disappointed that nobody hears what I hear. But since I mishear pretty much everything, that should not surprise me. Elton John is my number one singer for being incomprehensible. Did you get those from Jon Carroll? He's the sh**.

Postpaleo: Whatever you're doing is working. Your posts are more comprehensible than ever.

Lau: WTF is up with the avatar? I was expecting great things after the phoenix, but can make neither heads nor tails of the latest...

Muffin recipes? I've got a great oatmeal bar recipe that'll keep you going all morning. Are we not allowed to post muffin recipes here? That's a rule I'd gladly break, for the greater good :)

Postperson, can we be friends? :)

Try Eddie Vedder. Just one shot at Jeremy will give you plenty.

Excuse me,I've just been lurking a little and trying to catch up.

Sinsboldly,the mondegreens are hilarious :D
Didn't know about the connection to a Scottish ballad.
Here are some more(mondegreens that is,not Scottish ballads)

Gypsies,Tramps and Thieves,
The people come around to lay their money down

misheard
Gypsies,Chimpanzees
The people come around to lay their monkey down

I believe in miracles, where ya from, you sexy thing
- I believe in Malcolm,wear yer bra,you sexy thing

I said Young Man,I was once in your shoes
-I said Yummy,I was watching your shoes

By coincidence,I'd started a thread in the Random forum on misheard lyrics.Got a few
funny examples there as well

Hey all, is it safe for me to stick my head back over the parapet yet?

I didn't mean to stir things up so much. Can I still come in? :(

I'll sit quietly in the corner with a cup of hot chocolate, Aspie style

They can only flame you if you flame back  It's called baiting. heart and soul of any good flame war. people like it and keep adding more fuel to the fire.

feelings get hurt, mistakes are made and nothing a good cup of coffee and a little soul searching and kind words can't fix. There is always someone someplace in the world that won't like you, it happens, it's the way it is. here we're human and aspie, we miss things sometimes, don't see things that are pretty plain to others sometimes, but yeah the hard truth is, someone someplace isn't going to like me. That's ok too, I probably shoot better then they do

yeah, maybe you explain all that to CC.

Not up to me to explain anything. That doesn't sound how I search my soul. I see some of my really dark things about myself, somethings I still go into denial about. I try to work a little on those. I really would like to be a nicer person. I hope I see whan some of the blame lays squarely with me and I try not to beat myself up anymore over it. But I see them and I admit them. I can do that now, if I couldn't, I'd still be drinking myself to death.

Rules? What rules?!?! OMG, there are rules here? Red alert, red alert.

"You can get anything you want, at Alices resteraunt, excepting Alice." Umm don't think i got that right and why couldn't Alice get what she wanted?

Unfortunately that is where I had been. There is no "delete" avatar/picture. I can upload something else, but there is no "delete" link.

Likewise for the account, I see no "delete" or "leave Wrong Planet" or anything else.

i deleted all in and out mail but can't find places to delete the rest.

I don't think there is a delete for WP. Think of it as Hess's "Seppenwolf" and the magic theater. Price of admission your mind and once you enter, there is no going back. No rubie slippers. Kind of like having AS isn't it? No going home for us, so we made our own, don't let the cost of admission take our minds. There are some here on WP who are still paying the cost and maybe, just maybe, they might lurk a little here and see something else happening. We didn't get old by mistake, luck maybe, but each of us has their own story on how we made it. We just have some fun doing it. Like, ooo look at my scar, neat isn't it, I got that one on the lower reachers of the Upper Zombi river while looking for evil muffin eating muchkins. And then go on to talk about the scarr on my ass that I got there.

Oh you bad, bad thing. Shall we have a little Offspring for the occasion?

Like the latest fashion
Like a spreading disease
The kids are strappin' on their way to the classroom
Getting weapons with the greatest of ease

The gangs stake their own campus locale
And if they catch you slippin' then it's all over pal
If one guys colors and the others don't mix
They're gonna bash it up, bash it up, bash it up, bash it up...

Hey - man you talkin' back to me?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated

Hey - man you disrespecting me?
Take him out
You gotta keep 'em separated

Hey they don't pay no mind
If you're under 18 you won't be doing any time
Hey come out and play

By the time you hear the siren
It's already too late
One goes to the morgue and the other to jail
One guy's wasted and the other's a waste

It goes down the same as the thousand before
No one's getting smarter
No one's learning the score
Your never ending spree of death and violence and hate
Is gonna tie your own rope, tie your own rope, tie your own...

Okay. Mondegreen away. Offspring lends itself to that. This was probably previously Mondegreened!

At least he sings well! If it had been my voice they would have died laughing.

LYSSA! get your beautimous bottom in here and post, dag nabbit! We were just waiting for ya to climb out of where ever you go when your Aspieness lets you out!

and yes, I posted the Mondegreens from "Mondegreens Ripped My Flesh" and, fellow posters, that was just ONE article of hundreds he has done on misheard lyrics, I just wanted you to get a taste!

I have missed you all and if I start naming names I am sure to forget some one, and anyway, I was just away for 50 pages or more, it's not like I am giving my acceptance speech for the Oscars!

I love you all!! !
(Except for those I don't!)
Acutally I DO love you all, I have just been told to be more discriminating in my 'love for all' so people wouldn't feel odd that they were loved by me but I loved everybody. . .I couldn't figure that out because the person that told me that was a professed Xian and I thought that was the basis for the whold religion.
except for the people we shun, we should love everyone. . .or love 'the person' but shun the deed. . yikes, I can't keep up.!

I will just keep loving everyone. . .it's easier!

Merle
