I often would work harder than others when I was working, simply because at work there's nothing else to do. At work, you can't really be "goofing off", but for some reason workplace gossip is exempt from that rule. Since I have no interest in that, I ended up working more to keep me occupied.

I definitely work harder as I want to be known as a dedicated employee even if I don't socialize all the time. Sometimes I even wait to use the bathroom when I have a regularly scheduled break since I'm too focused on my work.

I was -better- at my last job. I guess technically I worked harder because I didn't see a reason to slack off on a slow day, and also I hated coming in the next morning with a giant stack of backlogged files to do. Also, daily talllies were kept on our accuracy and number of files completed. It made the perfectionist in me go a little nuts.
After about a year there, it was a slow day and I was done super early. It was lunch break, and my boss told me to go home, because I was the only one really working and I guess she was tired of me picking up everyone's slack. Must have been a real shock when I left.
Hardcore and complex data entry definitely suited me. I only left because I went back to school (to be a pharmacy tech) and after a few months it was affecting my scores both at work and classes.

I have always been an overachiever. I usually won't take on a job or activity unless, I know my performance will be equal to or greater than, the next best. I didn't know what AS was, most of my life but, looking back, I can say with certainty, that AS has been the driving force all along. Its these things about AS that make me happy. :) AS rulz!

I have always worked harder than most at jobs I have had. At least if it was a job I was suited for, otherwise I found another job.

I am a bit of a perfectionist and obsess over what I do and put in a lot of time to get it right. Bosses kind of liked that. My designs worked, my calculations were accurate. My work showed innovation. I am retired now and keep working hard around the house on remodeling and repair. I don't follow my hobbies well. I find too much work to have time for other things. Kind of like the horse that turned a mill until he was put out to pasture and then wore a circle in the pasture walking around and around.

I always put in lots of extra hours because that is what it took to get the job done and done right.

I am retired now and one advantage is that at least if I feel that I have to work on something the time pressure of a deadline is mostly gone so I can take the time with less stress.

I can't even post here with out doing 1 or more previews to make sure my post is right. I hope I got this one right.

work harder at work?

Yup. And because I'm female.

People think I am organized and attentive to detail~boy do they have it wrong. I reread my measuring tape constantly because I lack the repitition of practice, am aware of the cost of cutting the product short and having to replace it, and I have to write my thoughts down because seeing the world as a flat surface and everything at once--I am not able to just walk in and look and see what needs to be done.

I try to tell them they are wrong. They just think I'm being modest. I do TRUST the work I put out though. I also get to follow behind others and fix their mistakes--which is extremely bad for businessT-BUT EXCELLENT for my training; though it makes me look the slow one on the books. I'm not an over achiever-I'm just trying to meet the line. I have a weird talent for knowing what the ownership wants.

TOWING THE LINE IS BEST NOT DONE ALONE

In ansrewing the original question, my biggest fear is that if my superiors found out that I have anything wrong with me, they'll find a way to get rid of me. So, yes, I have to work twice as hard as my other co-workers.

Hmmm. What sort of job do you have and with what company.

But look on the bright side. If you lay the ground work so that you can document what they did, you could sue them and either retire or end up owning the company. :D :D :D
