I usually ignore the news, but now I'm constantly checking the weather and news sites for updates on this fire. Maybe I can learn a Native American rain dance? :)

So I won't have to worry about that. We'll probably both die of cancer as a result! LOL He also has carpet phobia and I could get into that big time, but he was right about that as well. Carpet (the wall-to-wall type) is nasty so it's okay that he gave me carpet phobia. See! Match made in heaven.

The carpet stuff is bad bad news, not only do you never really get it clean, it's gives off chems. Seriously nasty stuff, I mean really bad. It's history in this house and anything that we get now is choosin carefuly or what we can't avoid is small in size. We still have a semi large area rug in the center of the living room, but I couldn't resist, always wanted an oriental style rug, middle east more correct. Hell I have enough bad stuff in me just doing work things, I mean what the hell it's a big race to see which one will get me first. What me worry? Naw, got better things to do. But when the grandkids come to play, I want them to have a little better chance.

Hate to break it to you , but the rest of storage stuff is porous too, even glass, just less so and I won't tell you what we added to make that stuff, make you want to go back to tuperware.

It's his phobia. I don't care. He makes the bizarre rules and I follow them. When I live alone I don't care. I geta drink from McDonald's drive thru and never know what to eat, it certainly isn't stored in my house. Even where I grew up in the country it's not safe. Their well water is full of arsenic and they are all dying of cancer. They sprayed DDT all over until I was born, where do you think that went. Humans are nasty, it comes with the turf. Wherever we are it's toxic. Just part of the package.

Well, the rain only lasted about an hour or so. l gave the Weatherman a good talking to, but it did no good. Ah, dolls. I used to be terrified of them when I was small, too. I used to scream and throw them across the room, saying that they were "cold and hard." Later, I became fascinated with them, and for awhile, I made and sold cloth dolls. I also owned one of those "Charmin' Chatty" dolls, but she wasn't allowed on the bed. She got flung into a closet at night.

I remember that doll. I didn't have one but I heard of them. My little girl has the new Baby Alive. She talks, eats, drinks, burps and all that. I make sure the batteries are off at night. I used to take the batteries right out but it is too much like work. And she hasn't come on by herself! My boys had a toy ambulance with a bunch of sirens when I was a single mom. That thing would come on all by itself for no apparent reason and it scared the s**t out of me every time. It turned out that the batteries were low so it was malfunctioning.

I wish I could send you some rain! It has been raining here all day. It is so dry in the ground that the rain is soaking in fast. I thought Florida got quite a bit of rain. ?

It's the dry season. Actually the rain went longer than usual this year. Our dry season lasts from at least March through June, but can last from Jan through June. In 1998 it was bad. We didn't have rain until June 14th. This year actually hasn't been that bad. It's been much worse.

I didn't know that there was a drought down there! 8O It seems very strange being so close to the ocean and all.
We have been in a drought for 4 years now. The weather is really screwy! We get grass fires that can cause damage to a large area as well as smoke like crazy!! My thought are with all of you affected by it!

I just have no idea where that kind of thing comes from, common sense tells you, don't get involved. It's dangerous, but time after time I'm in the middle of it. Great when you get the job down, rips you apart when it didn't get it done the way you hoped. I just fail to understand why I do that to myself. Lol, well maybe I do a little better now and maybe I can stop beating myself up for the times it didn't work. Sorry about the downer, but i got work to do and I need to get it out. And this is the great part, I'm not alone anymore, yous guys is there. Geeze I'm getting closer that huggie thing, gads!! Get under the tables, incomeing hugs, run run fast.

"Hugs are like flowers, you can never have too many!!" And I stand by my "Darn WoW"!

Don't be hugging on me. They took me to a store and people were touching me. My brother yelled at them. I guess he was giving dh a break.

I have occasional huggy days. I am very choosy about who I hug. When we had my receiving line for my second wedding I just shook hands with everyone. It really offended some of them but I had enough hugging and kissing that day. Didn't want anymore!!

"I'd like to share a revelation I had, during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows that same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease a cancer of this planet..."

So says Agent Smith. Actually many animals will eat themselves out of existence. When the food source is gone, they die back until it replenishes or they die out all together. Humans just make more problems because of the "advanced" brain which evolutionarily speaking is an oxymoron. Over time the most successful species just breed and eat anything. We're too specialized and vulnerable to last very long in the scheme of things. One asteroid of any good size and we're done. So much for our advancement. LOL

I agree, Zanne. I always got a kick out of Agent Smith's speech. I hated that he was right in some ways, but I didn't agree that his solution was the best one.

I always thought that wolves were cool. They instinctively mark certain large areas as "do not enter". None of the separate packs will go into those areas. Even if they have overbred, and are now out of food and starving and dying, the wolves will not enter. The "do not enter" areas are where the rabbits, etc. are allowed to multiply in abundance.

This is true. When primates first made the scene, there were mostly "great ape" types, and less "small monkeys with tails"
the reverse situation now exists, humans being the only exception. "Small monkeys with tails" are doing much better because they are generalists, and can eat almost anything, even putrid meat, without coming to harm. We are way too specialized. Our time is marked. Definitely on the extirpation list.

Wanders in for an evening tea and feels instant.... sadness and despair. :( What good is a positive attitude if the species is only going to die off!?

Stumbles out to await better news and happier times!

LOL I always forget that we are much more pedantic about it all. We expect that it will end. It doesn't surprise us or upset us too much. It's the way the universe operates.

My husband says I live on a little planet of light and goodness. Every now and again bad people or harsh realities drop by my planet and give me a swift kick in the a*s. Always been that way even through abuse and other bad stuff. I just can't seem to be the other way. Believe me, it would be nice to assume the worst now and then.

Dh says I live a charmed life. He's probably right. I don't see myself as doom and gloom, just realistic. Doom and gloom seems so emotional to me.

Like the "Happy Medium," in the book, "A Wrinkle in Time?"
