Job? Yes. Chief Sysadmin for a Telecom

Relationship with significant other, past or present? Yes, and Yes. Was married for 13 years. 9 of that was open, and opening up our marriage is what saved it from being a 4 year one. Am still open and have several partners, some of whom are becoming primary.

Plans for the future? Yes Something Semi-Rural where I can experiment with energy, horticultural farming, community living, and spirituality

Anything else you feel is pertinent: I have been meditating and following spiritual paths since I was a child, so it turns out that my coping mechanisms are ridiculously complex.. it is probably the reason it has taken so long for me to recognize my condition!! ! On the other hand, it allowed me to accept, and to embrace, The Truth (tm). If I was to call myself something, I would say I am a Buddhist, and have been for over 20 years.

Current perseverations: Have overcome most of them. Probably still spend too much time biting my lip and worrying my fingernails.

When did you discover AS? Watching "Boston Legal" a few years back. In myself, a few weeks ago.

Do you have other psych diagnoses? Possible GAD.

Do you have a degree? Music. That and $4 will get me a cup of coffee.

Kids? Furkids only.

Favorite music, other than NIN: Almost everything except for rap and cry-in-your-beer country western. Classical and folk are probably what I listen to most, but having studied music, my tastes are pretty eclectic.

*New category! Favorite book/authors: Mostly fiction, especially Sci-Fi, particularly Robert Heinlein. I read voraciously so I will read almost anything that doesn't offend me (don't so much like war/crime/scary/violent stories). Will read non-fiction when I get into one of my little obsessions.

Job? Yep. Although I've had no formal training for it, over the years I have evolved work-wise into almost an engineer. Throughout my life I have gotten along with engineer types better than most other people.

Relationship with significant other, past or present? Not currently. Plenty in the past. Marginally hopeful for the somewhat distant future.

Plans for the future? Still adjusting to the changes wrought by the recent death of my fiance. Have no idea what the future looks like at this point.

Anything else you feel is pertinent: I have been enjoying reading about everyone else on here. I wish there were a) more people in my age group, or b) more people in my geographical area, or c) both.

Do you have other psych diagnoses? None that I accept. Prior to being AS diagnosed, a psychiatrist pegged me with general anxiety disorder. I pretty much reject this because I think my anxiety has to do with AS.

Do you have a degree? Yep. MFA.

Favorite music, other than NIN . I like all kinds of music, from classical to jazz to blues to big band to rock to soul to punk to alternative to rockabilly to reggae to…well you get the picture. Favorite artists, not in any order: Ella Fitzgerald, Beatles, Bowie, CSNY, Sinatra, Pavarotti, Johnny Cash. Best song ever: might be “Tomorrow Never Knows” because it’s The Beatles’ transition piece, studio wise. Best performance ever: Right now I’m hooked on James Brown & Luciano Pavarotti singing “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” together at a benefit concert in Italy. I also give kudos to Cash singing NIN’s “Hurt.” Both performances give me chills. I hate digitalized music – the increased loudness bothers my ears.

Anything else you feel is pertinent: How come most of the ASD research and resources are focused on kids? What do they think is going to happen when all the children grow up? They should do more studies on adults. I almost feel like the NTs believe we grow out of it.

Anything else you feel is pertinent: I'm a military spouse, prior civil service and and army brat. I cannot find support for autistic adults in my state. Apparently, either adults "grow out" of autism or autistic children never grow up... I feel like my aspergers is degenerative; I'm much worse now than I was a few years ago. Before this website, I thought I was the only female in the world with aspergers to have paired off and procreated.
