I'm 51, but I don't feel 51. I don't feel much different than I have since my twenties. I don't look 51, either, thank you genetics. Last week, someone said to me "51??? I thought you were, like, 35!" So I'll enjoy it while I can, because I'm getting old.

27 chronologically; about 16 or 17 in my head. It was the last time I was able, to a limited extent, to act my age. I certainly haven't "moved on", "taken off" or any other metaphor that applies to my twenty-something peers.

I have the same "problem," looking to be in my 30's when I am 50. I guess I can start enjoying the compliments, but I always feel uncomfortable when they come.

My bi-polar makes me time travel. When I'm happy I'm 12. When I'm angry, frustrated and focused I'm 200.
Right now I'm about 108...

Time travel. I like that. Today, at the supermarket with a friend, I told her that if I weren't fully grown, I would probably have thrown myself on the floor, and cried and kicked my feet, because of sensory overload. That would make me about 3, I guess. :D

Those were the days where you had no care in the world and kicking and screaming was as natural as picking your nose. I remember I would often after eating a full meal start making growly moaning sounds and slip down under the table from my chair and just lie there and squirm, felt nice to let out a huge under the dinner table battle cry after finishing a grown mans meal when you were 12 .

I'm very glad that I look about 8 years younger than my chronological age (33) because 25 is an age I can just about comfortably grasp being socially. It helps that the guy I'm vaguely seeing (whom I met on World of Warcraft) is 29, so I don't have to behave 'old' around him and it's perfectly ok to go round his house and play WoW with him like we're a pair of kids.

If I'm in crowded places, especially shops I start feeling like I'm about 12 though and the more overloaded I get the younger I feel. I really appreciate 24 hour supermarkets because I can go there at 3am and shop with no crowds and feel perfectly grown up. :?

Someone once told me that our self-perception is, on average, 5 years behind our actual age.

I'm 53 years old, but I still feel like I'm in my 20's! In fact, when I tell people that I'm 53, they often say that I look much younger. Maybe they say that because I am thin, in quite good physical shape, and don't have wrinkles (due to avoiding excess sun exposure). I got married at age 28, but my husband and I have no children (by choice), and I've heard that having children can make a person look older. I only heard about Asperger's Syndrome about a month ago. I haven't been diagnosed, but I've been reading a lot about it, and many of the traits seem to match my personality. I do often feel childlike, but (in a way) that's a good thing, as it makes me feel more honest, kind, loyal, trusting, humble, and sympathetic (as most children are), rather than hardened or proud. :)

I'm the odd man out. I'm in my 20s but feel like I'm well into my 50s. Of course, I've never really been one to enjoy the company of teenagers or young people, so it could just be that I like to be around more mature people in the first place.

Elementary education does help me keep young though since I have to put myself into the shoes of an eight year old to test my lessons.

I don't know.

In some ways I feel a lot younger being that I still work retail, never had a GF nor sex, and have been unable to finish college. I'm way behind my peers in almost everything. I wish I could physically alter my age to 21 or something and give myself more time.

On the other hand, I feel really old sometimes. I know my body isn't quite up to snuff as it used to be and I sadly admit I am feeling aged sometimes. I have so much information in my head that I feel like I should be 50 or so.

I'm 66 and sometimes feel like I'm in my twenties or younger. Some of the things I come up with are not in my age bracket.

Yes I do.

Whenever I'm at a party, group, get-together or whatever around people my age, I'm totally lost and consequently find myself alone with my thoughts or conversing with the kids. With peers I am reminded of how out of place I am. There's this obvious yet subliminal pressure to compete and conform to a standard of what is deemed normal or successful. I'm constantly reminded of how odd it is for me not to have kids, a spouse, a career, a home of my own, a car, goals, mainstream interests, friends, and etc. Not that I'm saying everyone is like this but I tend to encounter this type of behavior in social gatherings.

I have a feeling much of it is was due to cognitive impairments and delayed development. . I had struggled in socializing and learning at the same level as my peers this then led to teasing and bullying. Didn't take me long to realize how f****d up I was. Eventually I isolated myself from peers and family members. I tried to cope by imagining myself in a world much nicer than this and then would draw it. I then slowly delved into depression and anxiety attacks. I became kind of a regular at the psych awards due to suicidal attempts and ODing. So most of my youth was spent feeling pretty sh***y. Sometimes I wonder if maybe these events didn't stunt my process of maturing internally.
