One thing I've noticed in my mid-40's is a new-found interest in "ultimate" questions ... the origin and fate of the universe, the nature of human consciousness, death, etc.

I think about these things much more than I ever did before. I don't think this has anything to do with AS, per se ... just a general development of middle age.

I'm 44, just DX'd, and I'm still trying to figure it out! Actually, When I hit 40 it was like I finally comfortable, my 30's (well, most of my life) sucked. I still dress the way I've always dressed, I'm a low cut shirt junkie, :D and while I've been thinner, I'm comfortable with my weight, a bit heavy but curvy.
I think I'm trying to say is that I finally found a little confidence in myself, and you need to find what's comfortable for you. Today's 40 -ish women aren't like what most folks stereotype us as, if you're comfortable wearing miniskirts, go for it! If you like casual clothes, wear them! Oh, and hair: I've been told that women past 35 should start to keep their hair short. Yeah. My hair's long and I love it. :D

As far as how to act, I don't know. Everyone's different, I can be 16 and I can be 90, in the same day, hehe! Interests, I don't see why you can't be interested in anything you want. I figure we only likve only, so I've been trying to expand my horizons so to speak. I've got books, movies, I write, lately I've been thinking about learning how to speak french and spanish. Just hope I don't get them mixed up if I do learn them!

God bless older women ... although, to me, women in their 30's and 40's are still youngsters.

I'm dismayed at the perception in our society that older women somehow aren't as attractive or interesting as the 20 and 30-somethings. I think this comes about because so often our perceptions are influenced by the news media or by the advertising industry, both of which are dominated by younger people.

I'm not going to say that being older automatically makes a person smarter or more interesting, but in general older women are a storehouse of memories, experiences, and wisdom. They are a treasure. They are also beautiful.

Ever since I was young, I've looked forward to growing old. Probably because of the "old" women I knew when I was a child, being gray-haired and wrinkled is associated with being content, intelligent, taking no bull from anyone, determining how one wants to lead one's life, and having the time and freedom to do what one wants.

I'm still looking forward to it.

I've always been that way anyway, but it moved up a notch at different stages of my life. It gets deeper, more complicated... I think it's both an Aspie thing and a human thing. And if you were recently diagnosed, that combined with the approach of middle age can kick it into high gear.

More specifically, it's dominated by people who are dumb enough to buy whatever they are selling. The primary audience is the person with more money than brains. That tends to be young adults, but not necessarily.

Thank you, very much! As an "older" woman, I appreciate that insight.

They wear a snorkelling kit and walk round on their hands. They do most things upside down naturally.
