First of all, my ride was late. I use the medical van, which is supposed to pick you up with plenty of time to get to your destination. They were late. I managed not to give in to griping about it. So, I got to my medical appointment 10 minutes late. The staff there were pretty cool about it, though. But I had not slept well the night before, so was feeling pretty "Aspie." I was seen by PT, and was also supposed to be seen by the chiropractor. Since I'd been late, and had been started on my PT before seeing the chiropractor, I asked her to make sure he didn't leave before I could see him. (He works half a day there, on Fridays.) She came back and assured me that he would stick around until I was ready. So, at 12:30, I was waiting in the waiting room. He did not come out of the treatment room until five of one. Then he said that he couldn't treat me, because he had "plans.' Worse, he kept patting my shoulder while he was talking. At this point, sensory overload was setting in. I suddenly snapped, "Stop touching me!" He got offended, and even when I apologized, I knew that he was not going to understand. The receptionist's grandson has autism, and the PT is aware that I am on the spectrum, too. But this guy is one of those loud, outgoing Nts, who like to pat everyone on the back and talk a lot. I cried when I got home, and felt as if I had damaged my patient relationship. Now I want to find another chiropractor. :(

Had my chiropractic appointment today also, didn't go as poorly as yours went, I have even talked to him about being touch sensitive and it being part of being
autistic. he is usually really good about keeping appointments and will call if he needs to cancel. I would be really mad if I showed up and they canceled to.

I guess I need to do that, too. I feel all shaken up inside, still. As if people were being mean, or something, when they weren't. :?
