I will sometimes see a pretty woman look at me in traffic and smile. I smile back, then they kind of shift their glance, then look away.

The muscles in my face feel like I am smiling, but it doesn't really show. Does anyone else have this "I am smiling" feeling? In my picture I thought I was smiling at least a little bit, but some people say I don't look like I am at all.

Your picture does not look like you are smiling to me. But you look like an interesting guy and if I saw you somewhere I would want to talk to you. Hope that helps.

You don't look like you are smiling. You do look like you are happy though. Big smiles lend themselves to big frowns. When most people smile, it's forced to some degree more often than not. God forbid people think you aren't super duper happy 24/7.

To me it looks like a serious facial expression. It doesn't look like a smiling to me either. I don't find that expression off-putting though.

Just a thought: If you are trying to get a little zing going with the girls at the stop lights and smiling doesn't come naturally to you, practice an eye flash. That's where you raise your eyebrows quickly then let them come back to normal. It says, "hey, I'm noticing you in a positive way" and is easier to do on command that smiling. Or winking.

That's an idea. I was also thinking of actually practicing smiling in front of a mirror, to try and memorize how the muscles felt when smiling.

I don't feel like I'm smiling but am not, in the way you describe. I used to have a lot of issues controlling my own facial expressions though, I could never hide anything. I still have a sorta similar issue in another area though in that I think I sound happier, more enthusiastic, more confident than others tell me I do.

when i was younger i had this issue, the mirror trick will work. don't be suprized if you just don't like to do it. it really doesn't feel right...i only smile natural if it is a big grin or laugh

In the pic your mouth is not smling, but your eyes are. If your facial muscles do not respond very well you can try a more pronounced smile. Maybe if you try to everdo it ou will get a little smile. Practice in front of the mirror until you get it right.

Shrox, your smile looks a lot like mine. When I try to consciously "make a big smile" - I look completely evil. Like a gremlin or a wolf bearing it's fangs. I have oversized canines and a snaggletooth canine on the bottom ... quite scary really. Plus, my mouth doesn't make the smile shame much. It just goes sideways instead of up. Like a grimace, I guess is the word maybe?

I am the same. I will try on a grin and then look in the mirror only to see that I'm not. To smile really widely feels like I'm baring my teeth in a mad grimace. The eyebrow raise is a good idea.
