I've had the DX about a month now. I'm 55. I've been having some issues with professionals not returning phone calls. Others have returned phone calls, but when asked specifically about their AS experiences I get responses like "Your AS doesn't scare me. Let's hang out and get to know each other. I'm sure there are plenty of issues we can work on together."

I keep remembering what the person who did my DX said: "AS experience trumps everything else when looking for the right counselor".

Can the person who evaluated you recommend someone? Philadelphia is pretty big, so it depends what part of Philly you're looking for. You may want to get some suggestions through the local yahoo groups: ASAphilly, TALKASAphilly, FamiliesOfAdultsAutism-ASAPhilly. There's also ASCEND, which has a directory, but I'm not sure if the directory (which has ads/professional listings) is only for members. I forget how much membership costs - it might be $35/year, but I'm not sure.

If you're near Bala Cynwyd, I've heard good things about Michael Friedman:

Michael P. Friedman, Ed.D., NCSP
15 Presidential Blvd., Suite 202
Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004
610-667-6269

I was looking for similar but sort of gave up. The suggestions in this thread sound interesting though.

I'm still pissing in the wind and it stinks. If you have any leads in the Reading I appreciate a heads up. Thanks.
