Adults on the Spectrum Interest Group

Statement of Initial Expectations:

This group is intended to provide an opportunity for adults with Autism or Asperger's to get together, to share information and life experiences, and to meet others who may have experience in dealing with issues that are of particular concern to us.

Initial meetings will be used to determine if there are common interests that we would like to address, and to decide the format and direction of this group. No particular agenda is being proposed, as the interests and experience of the members will clearly be paramount in setting any future agenda.

As the initial organizer of this group, my interest is simply in meeting others who are on the spectrum to see if there is potential for mutual benefit. By way of background, I am a 63 year old married retiree, diagnosed six years ago with Asperger's, and trying not to let this diagnosis unnecessarily limit my options.

If you are an adult on the spectrum, I invite you to attend a meeting to see if you can benefit from or help others by being part of this group.
Randy B.

For more information, or with questions, please call the Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center (CCASC) office at 805-763-1100.

Agendas for Asperger adults to be reassessed:

* Developing and/or maintaining relationships with Neurotypical people aware of (or better yet experienced with) adults with Aspergers.

* Support resources: The terms self-advocacy, and life-coaches receive mentions e.g., How do these resources assist adults with Aspergers?

Anybody with experience in these areas is encouraged to attend the Adult Social Club meetings.

Thank-you
