While I don't think it should be done lightly, if you ever feel you need to block a member's posts from view, you can use the following firefox ad-on:

http://www.greasespot.net/

and after you have restarted firefox, download the following script:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=236218

"Skip to the finished code and instructions."

You then have to add:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... viewtopic*

on the "manage user scripts" page.

An X should appear next to each member's name and you can block their posts by clicking on the X.

Here's the second part, to get greasemonkey to work:

After you have both downloaded and installed, you should see a little monkey in the lower right hand side of your browser. Right-click him, and select "Manage user scripts"

Under "included pages", click the "add" button. and copy-paste this:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... viewtopic*

then select "ok", and select "ok" on the "manage user scripts" page.

Now load any page on WrongPlanet. When you view posts, you will see an "x" beside every persons user name. If you want to block someones posts, click that x, and then refresh the page. After refresh, their posts will be gone

Be sure mind them to have a check next to "enabled"

Please note that the above was written by Immortal, my deepest gratitude goes to her for her help with this.

By the way, I have asked that this thread be stickied and locked, so no need to have a discussion about whether or not this is a useful thing or whatever, and we don't want the thread to get hidden underneath all the new topics.

Its come to this now :) Isolate from others then Ignore others. On the subject of stickying I hate to waste vertical space on the top of the stack but no need to fear some
of the other mods will be fighting each other to see who can sticky it first.

Why? Because knowledge is power 8). Most other board formats have an ignore function. Phpbb does not.

I too think that a sticky is a bad idea - and this is the wrong forum for the topic.
Rather, this should be added to lau's faq sheet. It is of importance to ALL members,
probably even more so to the children than anyone else.

They can't block me if they don't know I'm here.

I know who's going to be first on my blocked list. :)

And I have allowed you to sense my presence.

If all you do is run when you see something or someone you don't like; how will you know to do anything other than run when you see something or someone that you don't like now?

So much for my request to have this stickied and locked.

I should have known. I've probably complained too much. I bet if Apatura had asked...

Just so y'all know, I think it's important for the safety of this community for the members who are more sensitive to be able to block, say spammers, and will therefore post in this thread daily so that it stays at the top.

Just gotta work around the system, I guess, even if the system is...oh never mind. Can't get personal or I might get blocked or something.
