I'm having a really hard time implementing a routine that works for me AND my son. Do any of you parents have any ideas how to make both of your routines work for you lives?

Really, I want to see some of the adult members' sample routines period. I feel kind of lost as I have no routine of my own.

During the week:

5:45 am - get up and shower
6:15 am - eat breakfast and get dressed
7:00 am - leave for work
8:00 am - arrive at work
8:00-noon - work
noon to 12:30 - eat lunch / call wife
12:30 to 1:00 pm - short walk
1:00 pm to 4:30 pm - work
4:30 pm - leave for home
5:30 pm - arrive home and help wife make supper
6:00 pm- eat supper
6:30 pm- clean up kitchen and make lunch for tomorrow
7:00 pm- longer walk with wife
7:45 pm - chores around house
9:00 pm - relaxation time
10:00 pm - get ready and go to bed

Weekends are far more freestyle. Uusally get up around 8:00 am. Saturdays are more work around house days with Sundays being more time off days / do something I enjoy.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your routines. I have a question, though. When do you fit in your special interests? I find that if I do not indulge in my special interest (video games in particular) I start getting frequent meltdowns. Do both of you have that issue?

Drink plenty of water, have a good breakfast, teach my kids language arts, break, work on math, break, eat lunch, usually juice something too, work on history and science in the afternoon. Break for free time, have a good dinner. Family time or just free time. Baths. Bed

I have not been able to have any kind of routine for years. My kids ever changing needs come first. My wife's needs, moods and whims, constant as the northern wind, come second. My needs come a distant third, when not trumped by some need of my Alzheimer's/cornucopia-o-neuropathology mom.

I try to carve out tiny slices of order and predictability as I ride the maelstrom.

It's OK: I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar.

I am told I have become more irritable in recent years. I wonder how that could be?!?!?

All those parts labeled "internet" in my schedule are frequently used to research my special interests. :) The books I read tend to be related, as well. On the weekends I participate in activities related to them, too.

This routine is similar to mine but when I put off my special interests until the weekend I get VERY stressful in the week when I cant pursue them. Do you ever feel like that?

Yes I do get stressed. This is true even if I am enjoying another special interest

I don't manage routines very well and I am quite impulsive. I do my special interests after everyone is in bed. I will stay up all night if I have to, but that's not a big problem until the 3rd or 4th night.
