Hello there, I'm a 20 year old guy, living on my own in a small apartment, and I got my diagnosis two weeks ago.

And I resent almost all of you.

Seriously now, is it just me or is aspergers the latest hip thing for attention whores and twats that have a need to feel victimized, for crying out loud, most of you are SELF DIAGNOSED.
Looking around here is like diving through the forums of deviantart, same stream of almost neverending BS everywhere, he's a handful of quotes just randomly picked from various places, most of them thread titles...

Am i pretty?
I was watching a documentary on cults. I think an Aspie would be immune to a cult's mind control tricks.
[Poll] Do bras drive you nuts?
I just self harmed twice today
[Poll] Are You Into Furries?
[Poll] Would you accept a blowjob from a vampire?
how much do you score on the Aspie quiz?

Same goddamn socially disabled attention seeking gits everywhere.

God forbid you'd actually shut it with your petty goddamn polls and semantics so that some sane discussion relevant to bloody well anything could take place.

Pleased to meet you Simon. I'm self-diagnosed because the way I see it, there is zero advantage to getting a DX in the United States. No government assistance for adults with AS at all in most states. Certainly not mine. So all it would gain me is an inability to get health insurance, and an even harder time getting a job. I don't need an official DX for peace of mind, because I've had this all my life and know what my symptoms are. And I don't see the wisdom in taking oft-dangerous prescription drugs to alter my brain chemistry to be "normal" when normal doesn't even appeal to me. So yeah, I'll keep my self-DX until someone can give me a compelling reason to get an official one.

Oh yeah, and welcome to WP!

Alrightwaitaminute, for one living in the states, getting diagnosed will make it impossible for you to get health insurance?

And the hell... "No government assistance for adults with AS at all in most states. Certainly not mine". I thought aspergers was an internationally recognised medical disorder?

Recognised internationally, but not by everyone (much like 'depression', a lot of people don't want to see it as a 'real' illness). I live in the UK, and my diagnosis is of no real value to me either - no budget for help or support at all. That said, I'm not sure I'd want any - I've worked with organisations that provide support to adults with learning difficulties...if they sent some of my erstwhile colleagues to 'assist' me, I'd send them straight back.

I have a brother, also aspie, in Scotland - he can (and does) claim disability living allowance. Myself, I live in one of the richest areas of England - and can't.

And the OP, this is a large board with a range of people on it (ages, countries, viewpoints and standpoints etc). You're not going to like some of it - but how about posting some of the polls and subjects you've seen and enjoyed? And then take a deep breath and learn to gloss over the other stufff...

Fair enough, I'll now try hard to find something, anything, that I find enjoyable posted here.

Hi Simon,

It's as banal here as it is anywhere. We're as boring as non-autistic people, just in diifferent ways. People come here to kill time. Welcome to WP.

In the US, if you have a "pre-existing condition" (which can literally be nearly any medical condition), you can be denied health insurance. Some states place a limitation on the period of time that the pre-existing condition can be held against you, but not all do. Anything that's chronic will get you turned down. And no, there's no assistance for people with Asperger''s in most states.

PS I noticed this from you in the WrongPlanet.net Forum:

Goddamn these colours clash badly.

PPS This forum is for adults - you may have noticed the lack of whining here ("And I resent almost all of you...")

Lack of whining? There is no lack of whining here. If anything there's an overabundance of whining, posturing, self-love, attention-whoring and crybabying on WP. Despite all that, it's a great forum and I always feel obliged to keep reading & posting. As with any other aspect of life ... you take the good you take the bad, you take 'em both and there ya have the facts of life.

I was talking about this specific forum: In-Depth Adult Life Discussion. It's a different pace and style than the rest of WP.

The OP is talking about much of the members who have joined this site.

.....and if WP and the aspies are all fake then why join? Criticism and opinions are one thing but attacking most of the members on this forum is quite another. This forum is espeacially the worse place to post that kind of stuff.

PPR or the Haven are good places to vent. If it's serious....I think Member's Only form is the best place.

I did not make that claim. :?
