I'm just wondering if we're talking about this so much because this is an Aspie/Autie community, or if other people care. I mean, are we the only ones that are even a little upset about this?

Personally, I don't pay his comments too much attention. I worry that these sorts of comments, even from someone as disreputable as him, may cause some in the general populace to have misconceptions about autism. Are we blowing this out of proportion, or is this a big deal? Do you really think he'll get fired for this? Will Savage go the way of Imus and finally get busted for his, to put it nicely, pigheadedness? Find out on the next episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Say What You Mean, or, The Savage Media! Sorry, ignore that last bit.

Seriously, I don't care, Sheesh, I'm even ready to go back to whining. Enough with Savage, I tried a Howard Stern Bashathon and that blew up in my face. I'm not offended, and I don't care if anyone else is, get over it. Go ahead b***h and moan about how he made a no-no in your book and why I should be a team player on this one, just try it right now. I'm waiting for an AFF agitator to totally flame me.

Actually, I started listening to him about a minute ago to see what he was saying out of curiosity.
He's just complaining about the fact that people are attacking him for what's he said.

Honestly, I worry about anyone that actually agrees with that idiot.

Scar, you should over to AFF if you want to fight with people there. :)

i acutally i was listening to micheal savage, i like him and his comments the other day were totally sarcastic and not meant to be taken seriously. What he was really trying to get at that things like adhd and autism are way overdiagnosed, that the medical/pharmaceutical establisment is way perpetuating a crime by drugging children with potent mind altering drugs for really questionable things when social invertations would work better, and has in general become corrupt and out of controll wich i totally agree with.

btw Micheal Savage had brother who was autistic who was committed to a mental ward and was killed by the treatements he was forced to take.

Thank you for your input, nightbender. I did not know that.

I, for one, can't stand people like Savage. Even if it was sarcasm, I don't care for it. That might be because I don't pick up sarcasm.

What is AFF?

I completely agree with you. I like Michael Savage and people are just taking his words out of context.

That's pretty much exactly what I said over here: postp1595716.html#1595716 (stupid spam filter). I think the much of the outpouring of anger over this is a combination of two factors; one, all the acrimony and trading of fire that normally take place between the three sides of the autism debate (vaccine, genetic curebie, and us) were all redirected at him, because two, I think a lot of people were angry at him because everyone else was angry at him (how many people actually heard the original comments first hand, and how many got it through the telephone-game that is hearsay?)...

As for his brother, I don't know if he was actually diagnosed autistic; all Savage has ever said was that he was mute and paralyzed, and died in his twenties in a rat-hole of a mental hospital. But it's not impossible.

I like the concept of a Howard Stern Bashathon but I was probably just too lazy to help. He just annoys me. But I don't like Savage much either.
I think ignoring this in general is a much more effective response than feeding his need for attention.

I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not. I don't like what he said and I think he is kind of an ass for saying it like that. However I think people are going a little overboard in trying to get him fired. I don't think anybody should be fired for saying something. I didn't like what Imus said either and I don't think he should have been fired for that. If we start firing people for what they say we are going to turn into the thought police because where will we draw the line at what is acceptable to say and what isn't? And people say things all the time that are misrepresented and misconstrued and they will be fired for saying something they didn't mean. I know that I for one am misunderstood all the time.

Regardless thank you for posting a different explanation of what he meant. I don't know if I buy it. But thank you for posting it.

I don't worry too much about Michael Sewage and his remarks, it is the ignorant louts and yahoos who
happen to be my neighbors and co-workers that might cause me some grief....remember Hitler never
really killed anyone by himself, it was all the mindless yahoos who followed him who did.

Remember Savage's remarks are protected by the same First Amendment that ours are. You cannot
stop ideas good or bad by force, only by ignoring them.

Exactly, I would have to agree with you here. Someone suggested that he was committing slander on another thread but I don't see how what he said can be justified as slander either. He wasn't going after a specific person and trying to defame them. ?????

I understand that people are upset and it was upsetting to me when I heard it but I would never ever expect them to fire the guy over it.

Sewage treatment topic

I promise to ignore him, after I light a match to his strawman's ass. :P

Yeah FreedomG, we can move on. I was just curious how mad people were about this, or if it would just blow over.

1st Amendment. Yeah, I whole-heartedly support his right to free speech. He should get to say what he wants, even if he's a total jerk. But I agree with sartresue. We can ignore him, but we should set his straw man on fire first. I really hate misinformation.
