Well then if its one in 200 people diagnosed AS then it should be about 30 000000 people world wide with AS. That's a lot. Other political and etc movements have much less related supporters! AS could be a large powerful group worldwide, capable of lobyism and etc. maybe someone could inform about avtivities carried out by AS people. would be interesting to join and help pursue their aims!
*********************************************************
I would like to know, are 'wrong planet' organizasing any reunion meeetings for AS people, just to get to know each other face to face, to communicate with each other.

I know that lots of AS people do not feel comfortable speaking to strangers, but this time we would know where we are going, and knowing each other, would be very useful. Cause a lot of us are suffereing from the lack of friends and close people that undestand us.

Being just online is useful, but that doesnt solve the problems of feeling lonely!

Nah, Aspie nationalism's not for me. Or most Aspies, for that matter. We mostly just want to be accepted into the world that already exists, we don't need a massive political movement over it.

since we're allegedly 'anti-social', wouldn't it be hard to get a group of us together?...;) if you buy into that sort of thing.

No, but the semi-militant "Aspergian Island" style of thinking has been seen before.

Maybe all he meant was political self-advocacy groups which are run by autistics, such as -
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network: http://www.autisticadvocacy.org/
The London Autistic Rights Movement: http://www.london-arm.org.uk/
Autreach: http://autreach.backpackit.com/pub/1382191
The Autistic Community of Israel: http://aci.selfip.org/
Etc.

Nationalism is not what is needed. What people need to do is to inform people of the facts about autism and AS in a responsible manner and then spread the word around the net. The autism spectrum podcasts at www.mic.mypodcast.com are trying to spread the facts about autism in a straightforward, non-militant fashion for example.

Also, autistics themselves have to direct curious people to researchers they respect, such as Tony Attwood and Simon Baron Cohen. When just about everyone recognizes all these authorities, people will hear the correct information about autism and nothing else.

Vengeance will only perpetuate media stereotypes and negative public perception against Aspies.

Try getting a group of people that are individualistic and who don't like authority, people from all sorts of countries and cultures, and try to "become a powerful force worldwide". I dare you.

You DO realize what that acronym could be construed as, right?

We need:

-Unmanned Offensive-Orbital Weapons Platforms; they need to be immune to exoatmospheric intercepts, against [soft and] hard kills, whether kinetic or chemical energy directed
-Multi-tiered threat ordinance for above UOOWPs; kinetic darts to tactical nuclear devices; counter-space and terran applications, from satellite/space denial to terran-city destruction
-They need to be built in secret and deployed into orbit all at once (200 should give good global coverage)

We now rule the world.

It shouldn't be too hard; all you need is some stereotypical "little professors", right?
