So more often than not I'm hearing "autistic" used as an insult for people no one likes or people someone has a problem with, "Autistic freaks, "autistic rejects," "crazy autistic people", etc., not even applied to people who actually have autism.
It seems that if everybody hates you or if you act in ways that offend people or if someone has a huge problem with you you suddenly become a subject for the "Autistic" insult.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I have heard about it. Maybe autism will become a insult some day just like ret*d did.

I think it's one of those things you're more likely to hear if either:

1.You live in a medium-to-large sized city
or
2. You use the internet a lot.

'You're human!' is the ultimate insult, really.

haha, true. However, maybe it wouldn't be if we were a more loving people. It is in our nature to be, I believe. We've just buried it. We need to learn to love one another again. Then maybe being human wouldn't be so bad. ^.^

Makes me long for the days when if someone insulted you, you could challenge them to a duel to the death over it. Sadly, the growth of civilization has cast down these rules and aided the growth of incivility.

Both apply to me.

Nobody uses "autistic" as an insult around here.

I wonder if my ex used "aspergers" as an insult. I didn't agree with everything he said, and I got pissed easily he said. He was better off blaming it on my AS.

He would compare me to his friends and anything I didn't do they did, AS.

People are going to be jerks and use words to hurt, even members on this site are guilty of doing it. Sometimes certain people have it coming for their behavior, but in some cases like what happened to me a few weeks back wasn't asked for, and that wasn't the first time. This site has its share of autistic jerks and sp****cs, who don't seem to know any better.

Never heard it used as in insult. If I did, I'd probably just go "Yeah, I have Aspergers, so what? You've got brown eyes omgz!"

Not many people know I have AS, and those who do have only ever reacted with "Really? That's cool!", never anything negative. So I don't think - and I hope - I'll hear it as an insult for a while, if ever.

I haven't heard anyone use the word austism/autistic as an insult, either. Nor have I heard it on television or the radio.
