preventing the birth of austistics isnt genocide, its population control. its sickening in a way nontheless, but comparing this to eugenics is f****d. real talk in a couple of hundred years virtually no autistic babies will be born in any developed country. and honestly is that such a f*****g loss?

Sheesh, you guys are making such a mess of all this, my Asperger's isn't even caused by genetics (environnemental), and unless it somehow mutates into my DNA, i highly doubt it'll be passed along. -.-

Would you say more about this? I have not read anything or heard anything about Asperger syndrome being caused by environmental factors. I am quite curious and would like to read any personal anecdotes or research you have on this topic.

I think there was a thread around not too long ago about AS being caused following difficult birth, including lack of oxygen to the brain (such being my case). Of course i wasn't diagnosed with AS straight away, but i still had ADD to start with. :o

Well you know since just about anything was proposed and since most aspies are by dx definition posses an IQ smarter than 75% of the population (avg 110 or more)and it doesn't settle with the devastating effects of oxygen deprivation along with the obvious lack of any link between AS and other OD symptoms or even a union of statistics ...
... during birth on the total cognitive capability of a person I would suggest you reconsider the gentic/epigenetic cause ie the very comfortably setting high density neuron /shifted functional areas in the cortex theory that has the evidence.

tl;dr aspies process associations differently

Wow, have I stumbled onto a subsection of the boards, where everyone speaks differently, and more confusingly?

Quote:

Godwins law activated from the first post, so I can use Nazi analogies without fear. You know, if Hitler had succeeded, would we really consider the Holocaust such a large loss? Do we really consider the Armenians such a loss, anyways? That's old; they're already gone.

It is a loss. Anything which reduces diversity is. It's just that it wouldn't be considered a loss, except by some very long lived old people who remember the old times.

Drawing a line under that...

The article seems to be focusing on preventing the 'disability'. WTF? Now they won't to stop it before it starts? I recall an article cut from the Independent where some people were ecstatic about 'curing' their daughter of Autism, because 'now she mimicks people' and other such shitoons. How is that a good thing? It leads to a greater prospenity to cave into peer presure later in life, increasing the liklihood of a messed up life.

It is eugenics, Abu... and yes, that would an incredible loss. The arrogance of humanity to think it known best, whether it is in morality or the gene pool, is absolutely astounding to me.

EWWgenics topic

People who oppose abortion will still have AS children--unfortunately, they will be the Jenny MCCarthy types who make our life hell.

Damned if they do and damned if they do not.

Jenny McCarthy... I don't know about her family ties to a one Senator McCarthy whom we all know was responsible for the Red Scare of the 1960's, but she sure as hell has a similar personality. The both of them are in effect trying to do the same thing, only one of them hated Communists, and the other hates Autistics. I'm sure I can look up the McCarthy family tree somewhere...

How many of you are really happy with your life, hell with anything...if you are props to you but I wager alot of you wish you were never born...when you realize at the end of the day even if you have someone in the bed with you...do they really know you...can you know them or is it just a mockery a joke of a life...I wish my mother would/could have aborted me if she knew what my life was like...in puppy farms the breeders put down the genetic freaks, it isn;t cruel...it keeps them from suffering when they become adults.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I am one of those exceptions. I am happy - life could be better, but I am alive, I have someone who I love and loves me, my pack of animals, my books and music, a rich world of my own devising. So I am thankful no one chose to put me down before I found my place in life.

Abortion is cruel cause it gives women and by extension families unwarranted self-importance using such silly confabulations to make themselves feel better..
I can't even begin to start to answer to the above post...

edit - above the above.

People mistake my autism as lighter than it really is, sure I live on my own, take care of myself, have women...but its not real, its all a rolodex of fake emotions, to be honest I could pull a trigger as fast as I could save a life, its only the consequences which scare me...people who really know me call me a freak, a monster, i'm like a sociopath light and I hate it, I feel enough to notice but not enough to care until the walls come down around me and I have to move again, have to reinvent my life, knowing i'll destroy it again....why have others suffer ike me..its only logic that people like me should never exist.

i don't consider the confusion over social rules to be evidence of sociopathy--not even "sociopathy light." i consider it to be evidence of confusion. i don't consider my confusion over emotions to be evidence of "sociopathy-anything." again: it's just confusion.

the world would be less rich without us in it. deal with that.

Well, if you were referring to me when you made that bet, you lose. Cough up the cash.

If you feel like your mother should have aborted you, then you my friend need to see some help, because that's basically being suicidal. I'm not saying it to be mean, I'm saying it because that statement worries me.
