Hey I put this in the college bit before but I think it might suit here better especuially tips on presentation

I've been given a slot to do a speech in a few staff meetings to help teachers to understand the problems people with high functioning ASD face in a school environment. I have been at the school for 5 and a half years since I was 11 and have had fairly minor problems in a way but which have caused some distress such as being forced to answer in class, work with people who I don't know and am uncomfortable with and my emotional problems being ignored because I am good at school work. The school is a catholic school where I do not believe in God and the schools religious education programme is one of the hardest things I have had to deal with becuase I find a lot of the way the school presents their views illogical - don't get me started lol - but I wondered if anyone had any general problems with teachers and school that I could address so my own experiences don't cloud the speech too much and it will be more useful for other people.

It's quite a while away (2 months or so) but its good to be prepared aye

And any tips on speech making would be useful too I'm usually okay at presentations because the whole set up is I talk and other folk listen so that's easy enough but anything to grab attention would be welcomed

Maybe draw some pictures or use some diagrams to try and show how you see the world?

A major issue I had at school was not understanding when people were teasing me, so I ended up thinking a lot of people hated me, and only having it explained later that they were only joking.

Also, when I was younger - primary school and early secondary school - I seemed to find myself in trouble a lot, but I never really knew why, or even that I'd done anything wrong in the first place.

Hey thanks for all the ideas aorry i didn't reply earlier I'm not very good at forum things . . .
Anyway I was thinking maybe of speaking in chinese at the beginning because no one that I know in school can speak chinese so my little bit will be quite useful to be a metaphor for communication problems. I think someone else does that but I can't remember who lol
The picture idea is really good and I think fliers will be useful for pressurising all the teachers into coming!

The Aspies at my college have held many speeches and meetings regarding Aspergers awareness and tolerance over the past 5 years. The Aspie department there has even won national education awards.

Personally I wasn't directly invloved with those, although I was part of that college group. If you'd like I might be able to get you in contact with a couple of them to help you out.

That would be really useful thank you It's kinda just me doing it at the moment with a few friends not really knowing how to go about it so that kind of support would be great
