Has this been done before? It would be interesting to use my free speech to piss off the McCarthers :)

I'd be interested. I live in St. Louis; only other big cities close enough that I could travel to are Kansas City and Chicago.

ASAN has some "How to" information from past protests we did and can connect people interested in organizing a protest with people who have done it before. Feel free to e-mail me if anyone is interested in those kinds of materials to set up a protest of their own: [email protected] To be clear, we're just offering some materials and technical assistance. No one has to affiliate their protest with ASAN in order to receive the help.

Relyt22, we have a few people in the LA area. Contact Sarah Pripas at ASAN-UCLA: [email protected]

ASdoggeek, ASAN-New England did a protest in Boston last year. They would be a good group to contact to help organize a protest this year: http://asannewengland.blogspot.com/ [email protected]

Some examples of past successful protests:

I’d definitely be interested! In fact, I’d make my way all the up to MA for it from Texas. Besides, I plan to move to Boston sometime anyway if at all possible.

Well if there's ever a protest in LA, I'd like to record it with my crappy little camera, and take pictures with my fairly decent camera :P

I don't know, but there is an Autistic Self-Advocacy Network chapter in South West Ohio: http://asansouthwestohio.blogspot.com/
(Which is about the same distance from you as Chicago).

What would you like to start? An Autistic Self Advocacy Network chapter?
If so, you can discuss it with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network's Chapter Coordinator, Elesia.
Her email address is here:

P.S.
Radiate simply, the candle is burning, so low for me
Generate me limply, can't seem to place your name, cherie
To rearrange all these thoughts in a moment is suicide
Come to a strange place, we'll talk over old times we never smile
Somebody called me Sebastian...

It's not as accessible, though. I can ride to Chicago on a train but that would be harder to get to...
