"What do you wish someone had told you about life with autism?

Much attention has been focused on education and treatment for children with autism. Little attention has been paid to what happens as they transition into adulthood.

American Public Media has been collaborating with the The New York Times on a series called "Autism, Grown Up.'' We've asked the question: As these children age, what challenges and rewards are in store for both them and their communities?

Now we're hoping to turn our work into a book and we'd love your help. The book will not only showcase New York Times reporter Amy Harmon's stories (you can find samples here and here), but will also include a series of brief first-person accounts about life on the autism spectrum. "

(Couldn't find a thread about it, so I'm just leaving this link here:)

I found out about this through thAutcast.com. I am not sure what kind of results to expect, but it's an interesting experiment.

Same. I'd be fine sharing my story if it helps people know more but as far as first and last name, where I live, if someone contacts me I'll definitely be requesting to keep as much anonymity as possible.

They don't really allow the possibility of being over the age of 22 or growing up with AS and not knowing it. I don't know what to tell them.
