This makes me absolutely sick to watch. A wrestling coach at a local high school "escorted" an autistic boy out of a high school classroom and it was caught on camera. My heart goes out to the kid.

Yeah. I looked at the video. If that was my son being mistreated like that I'd seriously lose my mind and end up on the 6 o'clock news.

At the beginning of the video, the "teacher" pushes the kid out of the classroom hard enough that he loses his balance and crashes against the lockers on the other side of the hall. And it's unclear whether his head hits against the lockers.

And this is done in front of other students. That is, this so-called "teacher" is directly modeling bullying behavior.

That person should not be teaching children.

How awful! :(
If I was that wrestling coach, I'd think twice before doing what he just did.

That's pretty rough, but then again he's a coach and they usually are. I don't see anything that would cause someone to sue the school or anything, especially since the kid is 17. He's also jerking away from the coach as they are walking up the hall, so that could make it look a lot worse than it is although I don't see why the coach needed to take him by the arm to do that. If that was him pushing the kid out at the first part of the video, I would say that is certainly uncalled for and should result in writing up the coach or something along those lines, but I didn't see a problem with the way they went up the hall.

Discomfort in being touched after being pushed around, possibly?

As someone who freaks out when I get touched without my permission, I would be pretty panicked by the coach holding my arm like that. Especially after getting pushed into the lockers.

This video is more evidence to conclude that people are targeting those on the spectrum, this kind of behavior cannot continue and it's going to have to be people on the spectrum who fight against it.

If I was that kid's parent, I would've had that coach fired for district violations.

I DO see behavior that would get him sued... He put his hands on the boy. That is a nono... Period... My take in it is if it would get me arrested at a bar (because the 6'9" gorilla pushing someone will always get arrested, even if they started it) then it is in violation of his rights as an individual

That coach should be fired and banned from teaching at all school across his country.

I was maced, punched, wrestled to the ground, and arrested during a meltdown at my high school during lunch by two "officers". I went in to one line and didn't care for what was in it, so I moved a couple steps over to see what was in the other line, disliked it even more and returned to my original position in line. A coach or teacher (I had never seen him outside of the cafeteria) overseeing the lines told me "Uh uh, go to the end of the line". I started to walk back out of the line and mumbled "F*** this" and he came after me asking my name. I sat down at my table and put my head down while he called over security. I kept my head down and when they got there one grabbed me up out of my seat and I reactivity started pulling away and telling them to let go of me. One proceeded to pull out mace and hold me while the other started to cuff me. With both of them pulling on my arm in different directions I was unable to get my arm in position for the one to cuff me so he punched me in the face which caused the other to mace me and both wrestled me to the ground, punching and cuffing me. after that they took me to the main office, where I passed the head of the Special Ed department, whom knew about my AS, and she didn't even bother to see what was going on. The vice principal came in, also knowing about my situation, and had the nerve to tell me "Due to all that you've been through today, we're only going to suspend you for five days". Ended up spending several hours in Juvie contact-less and burning from the mace. Had to do community service and they wouldn't show the tapes to anyone. This was also in front of at least 1000 students, so.. yeah, social situations anyone?

Oh my god 8O I've been slapped by a member of the public before, but never anything like that. You did absolutely nothing wrong, apart from swearing, perhaps. Events like what you describe make me lose faith in society completely.
