American here.

I'm a socialist. I always vote third party. Last time, I voted Green.

I don't ascribe to parties, but I'm definitely liberal, and I'd vote Democrat because the American party election system is messed up.

Last election I voted Libertarian, because it was the only third party on the ballot and I knew they were going to lose. I hated both Romney and Obama, and since my vote matters so little I through it behind a third party because I might as well.
I would have preferred to have a little more... open ballots... so that I could vote for my party of choice.

I was one of the founders of a Libertarian party in Germany but within two months some members turned neocon and ruined the party. So i will make a new party with more failsafe stuff in it. Probably a mix of Green and classical liberalism. A comparable party is Ale Yarok from Israel. I might even make the party an affiliate of Ale Yarok.

Obligated? Yikes. Can a Belgian voter write in "None of the Above (NOTA)" as one or more candidates (thereby negating the obligation)? I use NOTA whenever I can (where no other named candidate is worthy).

You mean the neocons have ruined their own party and now have nothing better to do than ruin others? Hm....

I have heard that other former Green Parties have moved toward classical liberal libertarianism.

You are obligated to vote but you are allowed to leave your votes blank, if that makes sense. Those who don't vote usually don't get fined for not voting, even though legally they should. I suspect that this is because the government which starts doing this is likely to loose a lot of votes. (Next elections a lot of ex-not-voters would vote on other parties)

I'm anarcho-communist/socialist and a dual national. I don't vote in USA elections now that I am overseas, because I can't be bothered. I have never voted for a Republican or a Tory ('Liberal Party' in Australia = republican). I am a 'republican' in Australia because I believe Australia should be a republic. (It's interesting how different the English language can be between Australia and the USA.) I tend to vote Greens or Labor in Australia. I have had dealings with one Liberal Party female MP (parliament member) who was fantastic and helpful when it came to women who are struggling, but we vote for parties here, not individuals.

Actually, President Obama has only used the veto twice...

This would be better in the politics, philosophy, and religion section, but I'll answer here anyway. I'm technically a registered Democrat. I probably will remain a Democrat, if and when I move to Pennsylvania, as independents, and minor party members are prevented from voting in the primary elections. However I've voted for candidates from just about every party, at some point in my life or another. Currently I tend to favor the Green Party. I voted for the Green presidential candidate, Jill Stein. And I'd even voted for a Socialist senatorial candidate, Dan La Botz. So I suppose I'm on the left side of the political spectrum.

As Jerry Garcia once wrote "Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil." My vote goes to the Green Party. Compared to the other parties in Western societies there are plenty of reasons to vote Green.

I hate politics and would sooner trust Vlad the Impaler than any politician, but I vote Democratic 99% of the time, if only to keep those who would rather see me starve to death out of office.

I am not old enough to vote yet (3 years left) but If I could, I'd vote based on my individual beliefs, not based on parties. Green party is pretty close though.
