Satire news website The Onion savagely demonizes autistics

Thats double standart. Either everyone gets to laugh, or nobody. My mum often said - (having) humor is when you laugh anyway. And it isnt even that far off in my case. You also should google what "oppression" really means. Autistic people are at a passive disadvantage, not an active one...

I do not see anything wrong with neurotypicals making fun of autistics because it is normal for neurotypical society to make fun of non-neurotypicals.

I am just pointing out the behavior of neurotypical society.

So if something is normal, that makes it okay? At one time, it was normal to make black people sit at th back of the bus. Does that mean that there was nothing wrong with it? What is normal isn't always what is "right"

A lot of what neurotypical societies thinks is normal is not right but sometimes I would just rather pass of some of the behaviors of neurotypical societies as normal and usual than thinking that the behavior is wrong because that's how neurotyical societies are like.

Neurotypical societies have always treated non-neurotypicals badly ever since medieval times. This isn't going to change soon.

I've been reading the Onion for years.

After seeing the discussion about this video, I watched it last night - a few times. It was hilarious! Yes, it's over-the-top, but that's what good satire does. If a satirical piece is only funny when it's about other people, and not when it hits close to home, then you're probably taking yourself too seriously. And I rarely take myself seriously at all, which is one reason I'd make a lousy activist.

The general awkwardness, abrupt transitions, lack of social graces, the exquisite focus on the details and welfare of the train to the near total disinterest in the human element of the story are all too familiar. I loved the part where he was describing how the train also ran over a litany of random items, like the man and a Snicker wrapper. I'm always noting details in situations that other people find irrelevant.

I may be a little smoother than the character portrayed in the video, but it's just years of experience that grant me a thin veneer of normalcy today. My own inappropriate reactions are always threatening to emerge. :lol:

I don't like The Onion. I never did to be honest. I didn't like the jokes they made up about autistic people. I guess I don't have the same sense of humour as everybody else here.

I found the video funny and I love the onion,

Grow a set guys, you can still represent autism correctly in real life and have a sense of humor. Can people not tell what is fantasy and reality?
