A country run by Auties/Aspies would be very efficient and sensible. The country would most likely be run under a one party system where the leader of said party is only so because they have the ability to know who the other people in the party should be in charge of. Also, sarcasm would have to be kept to a minimum because from what I've heard a lot of people of the Autistic spectrum. Everyone who has a job would have it because they are inherently interested in it. There would be work hours, but only for those who need breaks. And even then, the employees would most likely bring their work with them. Crime would be nearly non-existent because everyone would know what it's like to not have what belongs to them and not do it. In the unlikely chance someone did do something wrong, the offender would most likely own up to it and go out of their way to right the wrong they committed. Currency might not be a thing. If only because a lot of people with ASD would probably not understand the idea of giving bits of metal to someone for something they want or need. So if they need something, they would go visit the pharmacist and say they need a couple of pain killers for something and they would get it. Science would be a big thing. Fashion would be all over the place. With everyone having their own idea of what they want to wear. Those are just off the top of my head.

We could treat autistic savants like our wise advisers on specific elements of maths, record keeping, and various special interests. They would be admired. And our more neurodivergent sisters and brothers could be given truly respectful care, and technology to communicate their needs.

I would now like to suggest a manifesto. Who we are, and who we want to be as a people born from all peoples.
E.g
Firstly, I will start with this. The scourge of ethnic prejudice will not be tolerated amongst autistics. They are sister and brother in neuro divergence. Ethnic identity is respected, and given equal status, for anyone. We are a people born from all peoples.

What do you think? Let's come up with ideas, and then see if we can knock up a document.

It can evolve and change a lot. It's an idea and I want it to belong to all of us .. And let's bring a little wise positivity and love.

As someone with Aspergers who is planning on getting into politics......It'd look like s**t.We tend to be very stubborn and a lot of us are as illogical and as maladjusted as a lot of NTs. An entirely ND government would never accomplish anything.

Do we really think that little of ourselves, kielera? We are not less than nt's we are different. The world is hard because of their prejudices. Let's stop sharing them.
I am glad not to be like them. I don't have to think like them.

I appreciate I am sounding nt phobic. I just think they have a pathology we don't need to share.

2nd manifesto suggestion...no autistic should presume to speak for all of us, but should consult the community, and arrive at total consensus... Democracy obviously, but also novel methods of representation, that we can tailor in our way to close down the possibility of despotism developing... does anyone else have an idea about a 3rd manifesto suggestion? I leave it all to you for the next few pages...or I'll be breaking the 2nd.

This awesome country would be full of glorious routines, quiet streets, soft glowing non bright lights, sparsely populated in the extreme - only one person allowed per acre, emails sent before every social encounter no randoms allowed, all costs related to survival paid for by the government, social interaction would not be required to advance one's career - only achievement would be taken into consideration, etc etc.

And, all NT's would be arrested on sight and deported.

Absolute heaven.

Technofascism.
The reason for the fascism would be because of the need to wrest (once and for all) power from all the worlds NTs.
Otherwise the NTs would interfere.
In fact any NT would have to be eliminated (or at least permanently hamstrung in some way) that showed excessive bossiness or boldness from an early age to prevent that.

What we're really talking about here, upon reflection, is Plato's philosopher ruler problem.
You can really substitute autistic ruler for philosopher ruler.
The idea being that perfect societies would only be possible with perfect rulers.
But that perfect rulers are rulers that don't want to rule.
Therefore someone must force them to rule.
BUT the problem is that if someone has the power to make reluctant rulers rule then what is there to stop that someone from just running everything themselves?
And so we have actually just answered the question of why there are no perfect societies.
And, by extension, why autistics will likely never run the world.

Yes, we wouldn't be entirely happy if it wasn't perfect. But logically it can't be. Most of us would know that.

The gist I am picking up from some of you is that, we may sometimes find the NT's intolerable(and they us) but that we can't function independently without them to help us.

My question is....in what sense are they doing that good a job of that?

I suppose there is a risk. That it becomes a quasi class state, where high functioning people end up taking control and dictating more neurodivergent autistics rights, obligations, and privileges(or lack of).

That could mean they are worse off because their distress may be even less recognised, due to cognitive empathy deficits in high functionals. Maybe.

The structure therefore might need to give specialised authority roles to neurodivergent autistics, that we have to consult and who have a group veto on policy.

Obviously, the nature of their needs dictates expression, and the environment that it is done in. If anybody is a more neurodivergent (I.e. more severe) autistic, what do you think?

It would have to be to your requirements.

This has been fascinating. And I love talking to a group of people whose first instinct is to think about things, and not just always react.

We are a wonderful people. And if we find an effective method to organise ourselves, we can achieve amazing things. All of us, on our own terms.

It's a dream. But dreams have changed the world for the better, before.

Know that I respect you all immensely.

My 2p....

A country is a bit of an ambitious first step, the expectations might need to be scaled back a little, however, it is entirely possible to create an autonomous, self sustaining community.

This is one of my 'special interest' areas and have actually lived in and built communities as such.

I have just come to the end of a long term filming commitment and am now concentrating my efforts on a few things aspie related, one of these projects is the creation of an aspie, off grid, self sustaining community in the UK.

I would like to start a conversation here with folks who would like to be part of the development, realisation and eventually the sustaining of a new aspie model of life.

This conversation can then be taken to an incubator space so we can get cracking.

So, who wants to stop dreaming and make change a reality?

I am cautiously interested. Guys, let's see what this entails, before committing anything, don't put anything on the line. We don't know anything yet.

No offence, my friend. Just being careful.
