I AM CONDUCTING AN INTERVIEW WITH AUTISM SPEAKS

yes, I got a chance to post to him here. I was thankful, I got a chance to say my piece. Wouldnt have known he was here had someone not posted a link to his profile where he was claiming the AFF website as his website.
Ah c'mon, there are people here posting the oddest things as their "website"...
Yes, he is being a bit self important...
No, that is not giving murder one a run for it's money in the morality stakes.
Are you seriously telling me you spent the whole of your 25th years without once getting totally above and beyond yourself?
skyblue1 wrote:
folks at AFF for the most part are treating him well
How?
By pouring on gourmet Hollandaise Sauce before eating him alive? There are other, more commonly accepted, definitions of treating someone well you know!
skyblue1 wrote:
I cant support his actions. As ex-military, I know you do not give 'aid and comfort' to your enemy by treating with them. No matter what anyone says, AutSpks should have come to us with hat in hand, offering apology right off the bat. They should have not been sought after, by a newly DX`ed Aspie , still wet behind the ears, uneducated on Autism or the politics of Autism. How naive.
I appreciate being allowed to speak here on the subject.

Look, I am such a hardliner against conciliation with the Autism Industry that you probably look like a lackey of "Age of Autism", most days, by comparison (no...sorry, I take that back, that's a disgusting analogy, I even made myself feel sick)...but I do not express that by personally attacking the young and naive...
Everything he has done in this, to quote Keanu Reeves in "Parenthood", is simply "what little dudes do"...he has the right to be wrong until he learns better...
...and someone on AFF (probably female, looking at all the cute and unable to think straight ) rashly awarded him an "article writer" status without realising it would give him a load of special moderation privileges too...and I can honestly see how that would taste nasty to old time regulars...but it was SO OBVIOUSLY unintentional...and if people hadn't got so darned spiteful would have been reversed PDQ...

For some reason, nobody wants to answer the vitally important question that has been asked on AFF:
What would Autism Speaks have to do to be forgiven?
So let me give Autism Speaks *MY* personal answer.
In order to be forgiven by me, Autism Speaks would have to dissolve the company and donate all residual monies (including any pension fund or similar, I am wise to that caper too) to a charitable foundation to be used solely for any autistic person without other family or community resources in need of crisis funding.
Non negotiable I am afraid.

I absolutely agree.
There is no 'fixing' Autism Speaks. I would never forgive it or forget what they have said and done.
It needs to be shut down and we should move in different directions through much better organizations.
Amen, brother. That money should be split between ASAN in the US and Autists orginizations in other countries around the world.

Mark Roithmayer, President - Salary: $400,413
Peter Bell, Executive Vice President - Salary: $265,981
Glenn Tringali, Executive Vice President - Salary: $255,256

Ah c'mon guys...*behave*...
WHAT has any of this stuff got to do with the remorseless abomination that is "Autism Speaks"?

Personally I would prefer a totally independent foundation allocating funds to individuals, case by case...nothing against Ari and Asan...but the Autist organisations are a bit unregulated as yet, and I have seen some really perfidious stuff going on for ages before anyone actually noticed.

Living with their loss would be quite a crisis of conscience...but I am sure I would find a way to grit my teeth and bear it...
Geraldine Dawsons salary alone would keep at least 12 struggling families in comfort through the recession.

Perhaps your degree in journalism
Then the jobs will come easy.

Now, I complained about Dawson's $669,751 salary (a few years ago).
aghogday was unhappy about that. He assurred us that that particular year's salary for her included a one-time moving allowance for over $300,000.
I think he meant that to reassure us.
What the hell is an 'advocacy organization' paying over $300,000 to move someone?
The salaries at Autism Speaks are outrageous.
Some people say, "Well, they're not out of line given what other charities pay their top people."
I say that misbehavior by some people doesn't justify misbehavior by other people.

I totally get that...and you *DO* have the talent...but the same serious advice I would give you at 4 am over the third bottle of wine is to tone it down a few notches because you are crossing a (promotional...not moral) line and alienating a significant portion of your audience, which is not good...
Also, informing people how they should see and interpret what you have written, or what the motivation is of those you have written about is is the kind of stuff that alienates editors (of the kind that might encourage someone to pay you a salary) too.
Journalism is about taking a neutral stance (when you are a "c" list celebrity, have figured in "Hello" magazine and had the obligatory immediate bloodbath divorce, someone *MAY* invite you to opinionate in a regular tabloid column, until then, opinionation is something to restrict to the privacy of your own room and/or the bathroom). The best writing is where the voice and identity of the writer vanishes and the story unfolds like a movie in your head.
Yeah, you are cute, charming and autistic, it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that "Autism Speaks" would drip feed you some kind of income as a second token autistic...but, trust me, you would HATE yourself in the morning...or however long it took for you to wake up and smell the coffee...
That is the way of the world...

I`ll be at I^2. Come on down.

True...the charity industry is, overall an obscene travesty...which is not self evidential in terms of justification.
But, looked out another way, it is also in line with the salary paid to any high class whore chosen at random.
(Heck I would have shipped my hatchback over and moved her with my own hands for half that! I would even have ironed her stuff)

Skyblue is being blunt, even harsh, but only in line with reality I am afraid...and scoff not at studying journalism...I did some third level journalism courses that were platinum in terms of how much I learned (not that it shows)...
You should check some out...

Well, reality is better than an enemy spy sent to destroy autistic self-advocacy. Not nearly as fun though.
One last time. I LIVE WITH MY PARENTS. I am nothing and no one special. I'm just working hard and chasing a dream. Anyone who finds fault in that has my blessing.
