Just say that you are on the spectrum and ask to be sent info on your nearest branch. You would probably need to tell them which part of NZ you live in to be connected with the local branch.

Because, as I said, I have a mild phobia for phones. I prefer not to call people if there's any way not to do it. Also, it doesn't help that English is not my first language. I have trained myself to be verbose and articulate, but getting rid of the accent is a whole different story. Especially now that I only get to talk to people about once a month or so - how is my English supposed to progress?

Well Goren, if you wanted to just show up for a meeting, that seems to be acceptable (based on the information I have).

The meetings for adults (at the Auckland branch) are apparently held from 3.00pm, on the third Saturday of each month, at "Autism House" (65 Morningside Drive, St Lukes).

The organizers ask that people arrive at or before 3.00pm, and the meetings go until 5.00pm, although people may leave earlier if they wish.

This information was current at the time I received it, however if you want to attend a meeting it might be a good idea to get confirmation that none of the details have changed. To do this, simply send an email with the following text (between the asterix clusters) to the Auckland branch ([email protected].z).

Hi,
I am interested in attending the meetings for adults with an ASD. I understand that these are held on the third Saturday of each month, 3.00pm-5.00pm, at Autism House (65 Morningside Drive). Can you please confirm that this information is still current.

Thank you

No need to phone, simply copy and paste the text above to an email and send. You should get a reply within a few days. If you want an information pack/application to join simply add the following text before the "Thank you", and substitute the "bracketed" section for your preferred postal address.

I would also like to receive an information pack/application pack; can you please forward a pack to my postal address which is (...insert your postal address here...)

Just a personal question, can a foreign Aspie student in NZ attend such AS meetings? :) Just curious. Thanks!

The information available to me about the meetings in Auckland does not cite any restriction relevant to a foreign student. The provider of this service is an NGO (non-governmental agency) and so restrictions that might normally apply to accessing publicly funded health services are not likely to apply. I expect a foreign student would be as welcome as anyone else.

Thank you. I don't need any publicly funded health services... just plenty of support. Thanks anyway. :D

I agree with pandd. Don't think there would be a problem there.

I see that your website is great, keep it up!

But then, may I know how your dreams get crashed? If you are ok with it, please feel free to share with it... Nevertheless, your website is doing well. Your work is awesome! :)

Okay, I'll just do this then.
