O RLY? Be a member of IntensitySquared and you'll find the WP moderators do spy on other boards, and have banned people as a result of someone's actions elsewhere. Not sure if it's still regular practice but once upon a time they did.

I can only judge it since I have been here. Volunteer Moderators come and go, but the crew here is a thoughtful, and considerate group of individuals, from what I have seen.

It's pretty much the same with Autism Speaks, I've been aware of the organization for less than a year, can see there were problems in their history, and see improvements in a young organization. AFF, Autism Speaks, and WP all sprouted up about the same time. ASAN came later. Organizations that learn from their mistakes and improve, flourish, those that don't are at a disadvantage.

As far as discussion boards go there is close to 50 times more people visiting this site at any given time, than any other autism support site for discussion, that I am aware of. That's pretty impressive, it appears most everyone is welcome.

the issue was probably that they want to fight autism speaks and not forgive its past abuses.

Yes they are. I read a tweet Gareth made about some devices like in V from Vendetta sending messages to him. I tend to get paranoid at times and I am very irrational when I am. Though mine is about people disliking and giving me a hard time. Though at times it is true. I am given a hard time which doesn't help the paranoia.

I remember in 2008, the site went down so evilzakkie, one of the AFF mods then, created a back up site and Gareth or Amy or both of them thought he created it to get the members away from their forum and they demodded him and banned him. I saw my old I2 post about it so I remembered this all again.

I tend to get paranoid too and sometimes my paranoia turns out to be correct.

EZ was demodded for abuse of power but was never banned. He just never came back to AFF once Spectrumites was up and running.

He sent me a PM under a new username giving me a link to that site. I never joined because I went to enough autism sites and when I considered joining in 2010, the forum wasn't very active so I didn't join. That PM he sent me is from 2008.

Let's not be silly Tambourine Man.
You have been posting articles on our site for a while and have been friendly and biased towards us. You sought to post a very non-condemning and indeed, slightly biased article about us, addressed to Dana.
It was a sweet gesture and that of a friend to us, Autism Speaks. It was crafted in a way that avoided possible specifics as to mistakes that were made by us or issues that have arisen in our past, as to how we have represented Autistics or treated Autistics.
That it did not go over well is neither here nor there. You did your best in allowing AFF to embrace us and look past our past actions towards Autistics, you failed. That is OK. We appreciate it regardless.
You also did represent yourself as a newly diagnosed member who had no connection or bias to Autism Speaks and this was more than just misrepresentation. I did not like it either. I would have prefered a little honesty (and indeed pride) about your association and involvemnt with us, but perhaps you just had other reasons I am not privy to.

I only point this out because the above makes little sense and i do not think anyone at this point "buys" it.

Now I know that this was created by someone intending to smear Tambourine man and Autism Speaks. It's clear that this person is 'trying to reveal' details about Tambourine's actions which are neither true but tend to incriminations. Why would a fan of autism speaks sound like they are part of autism speaks for a start. Why would somebody call themselves sucha blatantly obvious name? Why would anybody try to speak so openly about such 'inciminating details'? This is obviously an attack on Tambourine man to try and make bad blood against him.

Yes of course, look at this. This is just what Zeraeph or any of those zealots would want somebody part of autism speaks to say.

And now we go in to territory of Zeraeph's allegations point blank now. Again this is unproven and is a speculation fallacy about Tambourine's associations.

Go away you shameless ideologue. I know for a fact now that this person is just saying what Zeraeph or AlanTuring felt about Autism Speaks and is using this method of speaking and talking as a cover. Away with you!

Yeah I think you are right Gedrene, I don't want to be to hasty to judge and I don't know for sure, but this post by AutismSpeaks-fan looks mighty suspicious to me.

This part in particular, this is tantamount to saying "yes we have misrepresented autistic people in the past and treated them badly and well done Tambourine-Man for covering this up." I really don't see why someone who likes Autism Speaks would write this.
