So, I was playing about with ideas related to Autistic employment, and it would appear to me that there is a pool of potential talent that isn't being tapped due to social issues. Kind of. Anyway, I was wondering about the prospects for a company that would employ Autists who have skills and interests which are profitable (to use the archetypal example, coding), but lack the social ability to get a job using them. AutistCorp would employ them, and serve as the go-between which allows them to be profitable, by taking care of that which they find difficult (for example, interacting with the customer). We may have to employ NT individuals for this, but that's not a problem as long as they realise that they are only employees - replaceable ones - and the company remains in Autist hands. Perhaps, after going for a while, the company would be able to extend it's operations into housing for Autists in such a way that allows those would otherwise be written off as completely incapable of living independently to contribute to society.
I actually conceived of the idea (for the second time, sort of) when thinking that the hypothetical state of Autistia would have to have a government that would be, shall we say, socialist from a contempory perspective, in order to actually function, and I think it could actually work and benefit the Autist community.
As much as people on this site seem to hate Fox News, there was a report about a company started by aspies and autistics for aspies and autisitics. It was on about a month ago. It was a good report, and the company is specializing in software engineering but will eventually be looking to expand into other areas. People should check it out.
