There is no well established scientific connection between autism and diet.

no cheese doesn't cause autisim, this is just another one of them crazy theories about what causes it that doesn't really make any sense.

I think you'll find that there is a lot of evidence that cheese DOES cause autism. I'm disappointed that you are just going to listen to the opinions of 'scientists' instead of concerned members of the public who once took a biology class. Cheese is made from milk. If the cows are happy cows then the cheese is non-autistic. If the cheese is made from the milk of unhappy cows then it contains negative cow energy, and if you eat that negative cow energy when you are pregnant it gets into the babies brain and causes autism. Therefore it is very, very important that you do not eat cheese /sarcasm.

Oh, yeah? Well I'm one up on those concerned members of the public: I took two biology classes! OMG, I am such a biology expert! I practically have a degree in biology! /sarcasm

Amusingly, a recent study showed that autism-like behavior in mice sometimes resulted from viral infections early in the mother's pregnancy. Admittedly, the animal model may not translate directly to humans, but if there is a similar mechanism, that would mean that not only do vaccines NOT cause autism, it may sometimes result from the mother not having had enough of them!

I know what causes autism.

Salads (especially with cheese). This means the recent health craze will lead to more autism. Ooops. My mother was obsessed with them. Thanks Mom, you gave me autism. It's a new spin on the "refrigerator mother" theory, since you have to refrigerate lettuce.
And, ice cream. In the freezer, so it's even COLDER and more potent.
So, now we can't be healthy, or unhealthy. It all causes autism.

Lastly, the MOST effective way to get autism - be in the same room with one of US. We have autistic cooties. OOOOh. Scary.

Thats interesting. Was it for viral infections in general, or a specific virus/type?

I just had some mom sitting beside me here in public with her kids.
"Oh, well little beelzebub has Autism, so we make sure she's gluten free, dairy free, and blahblahblah..."

I'm sitting like 2 feet away trying to not get the ragecomics "are you kidding me?" face the whole time.

It's like people think it's a voodoo curse that you just need the right ingredients in the right order to counteract.

Maybe I'm being a tool. Or insensitive. I dunno.

I would certainly hazard the guess that cheese DOESN'T cause autism... but there has been evidence to suggest that FEMALE Aspie's have a high rate of food intolerance's and IBS. My mum and I (both aspie’s), each have food “issues” that aren’t just OCD.

I’m fructose intolerant (which includes wheat and rye) and lactose intolerant (= no cheese and yes I’m sad...but I’m addicted to Sheep’s cheese so it’s ok). Eggs are bad news too.

Do other female Aspie's on here find they have the same problems? I haven't seen any information online about it - and that maybe goes back to the original issue of trying to find ADULT Aspie information on the internet...
