I just know some people have perceptions that are completely out of touch with reality but are hell bent on use those ideas in their decision making. Thus it might be a good idea to shield oneself from these kind of big elephant in the glass shop type. A kind of social condom if you want. Therefore by asking through proxy lessen the risk if it fails badly (crash-n-burn).
