I added my 2cents (worth every penny, I assure you). I don't think it's loaded yet, seems to be taking a long time they must have someone reading it for naughty words(or ideas?) I had to log in as "alianoras" because krex is to short.

Meant to mention...I also tried to get Rosie to feature adult AS on her program (does she still have one?) but she never responded. I thought maybe she would be more willing to present a "controversial opinion"..like "autistic adults actually exist" Honestly...she seems a little aspie herself.

Krex: Yeah the site can be incredibly slow especially when you use for the first time, for some reason. Unfortunately there are some morons on there...there is this total freak that for whatever reason took a dislike to me for saying there was no link between autism and vaccination, and won't stop with this strange paranoid schizophrenic attack on me. She's missing a few screws that's for damn sure.

I don't think Rosie has a show anymore! After she was fired from The View it was all downhill from there. Actually The View might be more willing to listen than Oprah, but Oprah's show reaches more people. I don't think The View is well known outside of USA. I'm Australian and we get it here only on cable. I used to live in Sweden, they didn't have it at all.

It is good for ratings to talk about the poor helpless autistics. I would love to be on the show and tell her that aspie's are people too and it's the general public that needs help, help undoing years of poor publicity and misinformation that has permanently altered many of their sense of reality. People are all different, and we just happen to be a class of people NT's have decided to put a label on.

I don't think that Oprah would fall for that. She likes to make us look like ret*ds who can't help ourselves. That's what I hate about society.

Hmm...

The tone I got from watching the trailer for that
show was that she was telling the story solely from
the point of view of parents of children newly diagnosed
with autism and just now grieving the encounter with their
"changed" (or is it "changeling") children.

I wonder if she would be prepared to do a story from the
"other side of the hill", about persons doing their best to
make a worthwhile life for themselves while facing an
Autism Spectrum Disorder? The idea would be of a
"changeling" questing for a human soul, or something
tantamount to a soul

I actually found that Ari Ne'eman was featured on Oprah radio, discussing the ASAN.
http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahradio ... eetes_asan
Though it does state the ASAN's goals, it doesn't seem popular on the site. No one even commented on it either.

But me neither. I don't support that which Oprah views on us. I would love for her to take a walk in our shoes for once instead of just a look with her eyes.

I'd like to see her take a walk in the shoes of each person who have become members of WP, over the years. Let's see her do that for a year. Maybe I could clobber her over the head, with one of my buses.

I don't really watch her show that much but every once in a while she'll put on an episode that's worth listening to.

Depends on the potential audience numbers of weepy women.

I think you pretty much summed it up. The "weepy" stories such as "I cured my son's autism" is much more marketable than "I have autism, am living with it and would like inform society how we can all be a part of the community" angle.

The thing is, any of these shows on tv is just "edutainment." They are not academic or peer reviewed (such as information found in professional journals in the health professions). It is hard to bring balanced facts to this industry because the advertisers pay the airtime and, ultimately, it is the largest market share's viewing habits which determine what is shown on these programs.

I guess that is way I don't watch a lot of talk shows
