Whether the little girl really was autistic or not (we'll never know, maybe the parents only claim it so the jury will feel sorry for them because they had a disabled child and punish them less severely), nobody deserves a death like that. :( It makes me sad and angry.

The paper had testimony from professionals that she had autism, ADHD and was developmentally delayed.
They noted that the mother would routinely cancel or not turn up for the child's doctor or psychologist appointments, that she gave the child drugs prescribed for another child, and that there was a large amount of prescription drugs in the house, purchased off the internet.

It also said that a gastroenterologist who examined the deceased girl had not seen a worse case of malnutrition, and she did not have enough muscle tissue for rigor mortis to occur. 8O

The mother has been charged with murder, the father with manslaughter.
I hope they throw the book at them.
Maybe they'll get what they deserve inside.

I didn't see this thread before but I've been following the case. The mother has some kind of mental problem but yeah, it's awful. I'll be interested to see what kind of sentence they give. The teenager who murdered Gerard Fleming (last year's autistic murder case) only got 3 and a half years, but they classed it as manslaughter.

i did not follow the story much, but i heard the parents were serious drug addicts.
the child was not washed and when she was found her pyjamas were soiled with excrement and urine.
i do not know what drugs they used but they were maybe very lazy and unmotivated heroin addicts.

anyway the main point i want to make is that i heard the recording of the father's call to emergency services (000 in aus) on the news .

he said : my baby's just died... (in a slow and zonked way)
operator: how do you know it has died?
he said : well my wife's been in there for 3 hours trying to resuscitate her.

that is obviously a lie because no one would continue to pump a dead babies chest and breathe into it's mouth for a whole 3 hours. if the resuscitation was not successful after 20 minutes, the victim is doomed and clearly dead and going cold within 1 hour. if you think about the duration of 20 minutes when you are trying to rescue your childs life in vain, it would seem extraordinarily long, and someone would have thought to ring emergency sooner than after 3 hours.

i think they did not want the child to be seen by authorities due to it's neglected state, and that is why they did not seek help. i think they probably spent all their money on drugs and were so zonked out and amotivated that they neglected everything and even months before the childs death, it would have been obvious to a doctor that the child was neglected, and the selfish parents did not want any spotlight cast upon them, and they thought that all would come good sometime and they were wrong. even at the end they held off calling authorities until it was clear they had to report a death.

The parents are/were in fact chronic and longstanding drug addicts, with little thought for themselves or their children. I saw the father on tv...sozzled up on methadone and pills and probably heroin when he can get it. Completely out there. It is a horrible incident and example of what happens when no-one steps in to help children who need protection from abuse and neglect.

All the more reason to publically hang em and make an example out of em.Their graves should be P%$%$d on as a reminder of how society should regard these scum as the scum they are.
