This guy, Chris Chan, is a very "hot button" issue that has turned up numerous times on WP. Quite a lot of threads about him end up getting locked because they end up going so far south they are irretrievable, or just not worth the moderators time trying to sort out what should stay and what shouldn't.

I've been part of some of them. I've seen some get locked and others not. I've got a pretty good idea of what they look like just before things start going bad. No worries so far. I don't think you meant anything, and no one seems to be offended yet. Just letting you and everyone on the thread know that if y'all want to keep the discussion going, tread lightly and respectfully. That's all. I just hate seeing threads get locked.

It's the fact that there's a site that would go through that much trouble to gather dirt on someone and air their dirty laundry that disturbs me more than anything. I may never share anything about myself again, in case these stalkers turn their attention on me.

I feel the same way. It makes me think I should just shut up and withdraw even more than I already do. I already am mostly withdrawn from real life, I shouldn't have to withdraw from the internet too.

If ED is technically a wiki, and therefore user created, edited and free, would it be possible to just register and start deleting stuff

Wiki's have edit histories - they can reverse any change that's made. Also, straight deleting would get you banned, and possibly the page locked for editing.

No, to deal with ED you need to go deeper into the rabbit hole.

1. I don't really care if I get banned from that site, it a dispicable testament to every last negative trait of the internet and the people who use it, and gives the net a bad name

2: frankly, I don't care how deep I go down the "rabbit hole" to deal with ED since it is so wrong. and who would bother to defend them anyway. If anyone tries to defend the site I could probably just show them the site's page on them (lawyers, democrats, wikipedia etc.)

at the VERY LEAST, even if they cannot be shut down, they should at least have to do at these 2 things

1 take down that absolutely repulsive "were you offended by X" page,

2: make the disclaimer of the fact that the entire site is satirical and false MUCH MORE PUBLIC. I assumed they were serious, and I had to do outside research to realize that it was "satire"

the pages about jews and aspies (and especially the holocaust) literally made me sick. I don't care if they don't believe it, posting that kind of poisonous BS is just criminal. Under any pretext.

It doesn't matter what they put up there, unless there's a legitimate case for fraud or libel (as in, they actually claim to be telling the truth in their disclaimer), there ought to be no intervention from the more governmental of authorities. However, that doesn't mean I object to someone taking it out using methods of borderline legality...

Satire? I don't see it as satire. Maybe parts of the site are but they shouldn't have pages with so much info on and hatred towards one person. That is harassment.

In my experience bullies quite frequently say that something was a joke or that they were only kidding to get away with their cruel behavior.

I went to look at their list of people pages, but there weren't that many. It only went to "f" and <next 200> gave me the media page. How do you search it?

Umm.... you do realize that people with Asperger's have a tendency to take things too literally, right? Your tone is a little condescending if you didn't realize.

It is harassment, plain and simple. Whether harassment should be allowed or not is an entirely different matter.

My advice: don't get involved. Messing with ED is like sticking your junk into a wasp nest.
