Ewww tube topic

I do not find that kind of humour funny, and the man with the puppets seems like an idiot, but I personally was not off-ended. No body pulled the seat out from under me.

Dumb Doug ass, appealling to the lowest common denominator. His right, but a waste of time. :P

If anything, I would be more offended that they portrayed Zach Galifinakis's character as being Aspie-like, but also borderline ret*d. But I wasn't. I took it for what it was, a movie.

And getting upset because he's going up to random people and asking them to join his club, and they respond rudely? Well, that's a part of life. Next time, he should set up a booth and wait for people to come to him.

It's people like the advocate guy that are the reason why aspies get a bad internet reputation. All those ED/uncyclopedia articles and internet jokes are about these over sensitive killjoys.

Yeah, I remember some parents of kids with AS getting upset over a throwaway line about Asperger's on the show Community. I just wanted to tell them to go spend time with their kids instead of complaining about one line on a sitcom.

Also, I've met the Nostalgia Critic IRL and he's really nice.

Apparently a lot of Autistic folks got really offended by a joke he made in one of his movie reviews.

And to be fair...I don't think the joke was funny, but I wasn't offended. To be fair...I don't even understand what in hell the joke had anything at all to do with Autism, whatsoever. Not well thought-out or executed true, but not all jokes will always be.

Also...I'm kinda hard to offend. Regardless, here's the clip. Decide for yourself:

And yes, people are pissed off with us over this. To be fair, this time, I don't blame 'em.

Go the the actual video page. The author throws around some harsh and hateful comments toward autistic people, and repeatedly calls us "Asspies." I flagged him, isn't that ironic?

Regardless of whether or not the guy is a douchebag, the NC's video still shouldn't have been edited.

i'm not surprised that someone out there was insulted by an asperger's joke on community. the character abed always has autie jokes targeted toward him. his character is really well executed and i never find the jokes insulting.

I've flagged the video. His use of a derogatory term at the end violates YouTube's TOS against hate speech. It doesn't matter anymore what the content of the original clip was, or why it was removed. This video was meant as an attack, plain and simple.

He does much worse in the comments, and adds a little jibe in the tags. I flagged him. I would encourage others to as well.

I love that line. I'm not exactly sure if I heard the joke that well and didn't find it that funny. Nostalgia Critic doesn't seem like someone who wanted to be mean or offensive. I actually got to meet him at Youmacon 2009, after the Mystery Science Theater, he signed my program but I have not been able to find it since.

I wasn't really offended by Doug's joke, but I recommend that he be more careful next time. The Internet is populated with boorish reactionaries who miscontrue everything to fit their agenda. If you don't get what I'm trying to say, look up the controversy surrounding Rushdie's The Satanic Verses. I know, the comparison itself is a little much, but it's all I've got.

What is the joke? They're talking too fast in the clip so I can't understand what they're saying/

I don't really care about the video but the guy who posted it makes some really rude comments.

Hey guys, this is the Advocate of Autism.

I want to thank Doctor82 for showing everyone my blog and even trying to get people to comment on it. Unfortunately he only got two people to comment on my blog and one of them was him. Oh well, thanks for trying.

Time to get serious though.

There has been a lot of people badmouthing me and my blog in this thread. I have come out to say that I stand by my views even if everyone on here is against me and I get bashed and verbally abused in the posts that follow this.

First of all, I want to address Katie_WPG . Katie, if you try and insult myself an my blog, do me a favor: Read it word from word.

I did not ask random people to join my club. I was walking in the hall and one ex-friend of mine asked the other ex-friend sarcastically if she wanted to join the Autism Awareness Club in a sarcastic tone? The other gave a loud "HELL NO" so I could hear her. They did that to insult me and symbolized that they would not dare join a group about Autism. Myself being autistic was one of the leading factors in them breaking up their friendship with me.

Please read my blog properly before making insults.

"autistic kids are so stupid they will be amused by anything,"
Thank you Redtatsu. That's why I was offended. That's what the Nostalgia Critic was symbolizing in his joke. That's why it was so offensive, to me at least. I think a lot of you guys just didn't make that connection.

Thank you Vince for the fair post you made as well.

I am going to copy and paste the e-mails that Doug Walker (The Nostalgia Critic) and I sent to each other. Oh and Doctor82, thanks for sending the Nostalgia Critic a link to my blog. It was unnecessary because I already sent him the link to my blog in the e-mail I sent to him last March.

Here it is: First one I send

His response

"Sir, you are 100% right. It was not a fair joke, I debated whether or not to put it in, and now that I have, I am not happy that I did. My girlfriend actually works with autistic children and I myself have known a few autistic people. It was not a good joke nor an antiquate one. I do not usually change my videos and often stand by my humor, but here I believe I made quite the mistake. In the coming week I am going to take that joke out of the video. Thank you for letting me know your concern as it was also a concern of mine.

Thank you again Anthony and take care,
Doug Walker"

My response to his response

"Thank you so much Doug!! You are forgiven. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my e-mail. Everyone (especially me) makes mistakes but I'm glad you learned. That's cool that your girlfriend works with Autistic Children. Thank you so much Doug! Keep up with the great reviews!!

Your Fan,
Anthony (AJ) O'Hagan"

I am very proud to be Autistic. Am I a little sensitive? Maybe, but that's because I have too much pride in being Autistic, which is nothing to be ashamed about.

Wait, what's the joke?

He's playing with dinosaur puppets?

What? This is confusing and I GET humor.

The Nostalgia Critic thought that the dinosaurs were boring, unfunny, and entertaining and he implied that only kids with Autism could find such a boring thing entertaining. When he said "autistic kids line" he was being sarcastic/joking.
