I really like the American Green Party's philosophy. I never really see them on the ballet which is a shame. I refuse to vote for either Democrat or Republican (both have proven themselves to not be able to solve problems)

Personally, I always wondered why scientists or engineers are not the world's leaders. They are problem solvers which are the people we really need in office right now.

Same here. I'm in the Green Party, although my family is strictly Republican.

Communist! Where's the communist option?

Either that or I'll start a party called the 'Caffeine Party.'

Liberal is a dirty word in my country. It means more right-wing.

Small 'l' libertarian with minarchist leanings, but not an orthodox one. Basically, I very seldom meet rules that I like and try to tear down as many as I can.

The opinions I am getting are far outpacing the survey results. Is everyone actually voting on the poll?

A member of the Libertarian party is usually explained as Socially Liberal and Fiscally Conservative which I am. Although for some of the more socially liberal stances they take I have some more conservative views on. For example I am a supporter of both the Electoral College and Death Penalty. I also have some mixed views on Illegal Immigration as well. Which would make me a Conservative Libertarian.

Very few people with AS who are on this forum, you mean. Admitting to that particular political affiliation does not seem to be well accepted here at Wrong Planet. (Note that I am not admitting to that particular affiliation myself. Please don't hurt me....)

I'm a republican that may on occasion vote for a conservative libertarian. I identify with the tea party.

As we speak politics: the reason that i hang around here is that I want to know more about the situation for aspies in america, though we have a far different type of society in my homeland (Sweden), with a long tradition of democratic socialism, even though we have a conservative government right at this moment (conservative in sweden means approximately what Obama stands for in US).

If you ask me, our system isn´t so bad as i guess many of you people over there think. Even in my country theres a lot of freedom for running companys, people ho work hard can be rich and so on..

But except that we also have a society which takes care of its people in a way I´m not sure that america does. For example: almost no one in sweden has to live in trailers, our health insurance covers everyone, everyone with good exames from high school has the economical ability to go to college, though we have free education and theres a lot of help for aspies getting jobs that fits your personal abilities, for example: you can get an ordinary job at an ordinary company, were you can work after your own abilities, with the same vage as your collegues (and the lowest wages in sweden is far higher than in US), though the government can pay a part of the wage cost to your employer et.c.

Despite all this, the Swedish economy is one of the strongest in Europe, and we´re one of the few europeans countrys which doesn´t have any threat of economical crisis at all over us.

-But of course, I have never been in america, and I´m sure that theres a lot of thing I don´t know about your society, I´m curious about especially the situation for aspies in america and why som of you say you symphatize with the republicans and/or the tea party movement, which sounds qutie weird in my world, at least if you have a weak poisition in society. But thats maybe because I don´t know so much about your situation, on the other hand, I guess that democratic socialism is qutie controversal in america, so who am I to judge?

coulda fooled me, at least about the part about republicanism not being accepted here on PPR and elsewhere. republicans seem to dominate that particular [PPR] forum, at least in terms of sheer "volume." as far as hurting anybody goes, i leave that to the republicans who are all about "starving the beast," whereas democrats are happy to let it live and thrive.
