Where is Holland getting venom? A different thread?
This thread. Wanting to have your son communicate with you and not want to self harm does not make one an Autism Speaks type curabie who thinks her son is diseased/deformed. But that is the wrong assumption being made by some posters and that is how she is being treated.

If that's what you think, you probably need to go back and read what it actually is. Going to try and not make a big deal out it, and just suggest that you understand what's going on before posting such things.

You are suggesting I reread the thread. I suggest you read the entire article before arguing/discussing it with people that have.
I do wholeheartedly agree with you that most of our problems are a result of us being a small minority.

It's not the same as reading and talking about part of an article. I sympathize and help Holland, yet you didn't understand what was going on, and manage to come up with accusations of spitting venom, then you turn around and go "oh, well but you did this thing though" when it's not related, are you kidding me. No, not "you didn't read either", read, understand, and cut it out.

I had 50+ years accepting bully's like you. Thankfully that part of my life is done. You are trying to bully me and make me censor myself intentionally or not, you cut it out.
I wished the curabe's did not exist either but they do, there are a lot of them and The Times put their hard to read viewpoint in an article that overall was balanced.

I very politely explained to you that it was a misunderstanding on your part, but you couldn't leave it at that could you, you had to try and justify it somehow. Yeah, because telling you not to make baseless accusations against me is now bullying. smh
Oh for god's sake, balance fallacy is not correct or well balanced. No, we don't get anti-vaccination reps or flat-earthers to chime in because not all opinions are equally valid.

Your posts and treatment of me in this thread are the most condescending I have seen in my almost year at WP. Disagreeing with me about article is one thing, telling smh "cut it out" "Oh for gods sake" is condescending . Being condescending is a way of invalidating a person, ie bullying
Who exactly is the "we" that do not let flatearthers and anti vaccination reps chime in. Are you a moderator here? Do you work for a media organization?
As for Wrong Planet I have not seen vaccines cause autism posts. I do not know if that is because of policy. The pro cure position while a minority viewpoint is a viewpoint that is posted regularly. Diets are recommended that most mainstream medicine would regard as quackery are posted.
As for mainstream media articles about flat earthers are written a few times in the media but not to much because not to many people believe in it. The vaccines cause Autism articles people are often quoted in the media. They write about because a lot people believe vaccines cause autism and because their actions are believed to have caused people to be sick so their opinions while wrong are newsworthy. But most of those articles if they give the neurodiversity viewpoint any place in the article at all did not give nearly space the article in question did. It's your choice but I don't understand why you don't read the article. The person you claim to be trying to help disagreed with that also.

Oh, what a lovely person you are. No, it's the standard reaction for when someone starts harassing you, not proof of bullying. Most people, when they make a mistake such as that, are usually remorseful about it. They don't try and justify it and continue the harassment, they don't turn around and go "See what he's saying? He's just a bully." Have some respect for other people, show others a little bit of common courtesy. You say you're 50 years old, I shouldn't have to lecture a 50 year old person on how to behave.
"We" is everyone that understands that giving equal time to each opinion, no matter how far fetched, is nonsense.

Maybe the children with regressive autism go through a period of whatever it is that caused the regression, but are ackshuly more able to develop neurotypical traits than the children with autism who didn't have any period of neurotypical development. I remember a paper about this, in which children with regressive autism were closer to neurotypical than nonregressive autistic children on social cognition measures.

I did not ask to be lectured just as WelcometoHolland did not ask to be lectured about what autism is. I would be inclined to believe your claim of good intent and thus apologize if you were not so condescending. Your claim of good intent towered WelcometoHolland would be more believable if you read the article in question as she stated she wanted people to do.

Sorry it's a mobile link.
Cliff notes...SEVERLY autistic kid becomes *cured* with a mind numbing amount of cash thrown on a boat load of therapies.
I really hate the word *cured*. I think the kids just learned how to cope better. My husband's sensory issues are just as terrible as when he was 7. Instead of melting down, he isolates or tolerates them. I wouldn't call that cured.
Enjoy or not...
id like to put some atention on to the fact that severly ussually means mentally ret*d and barley able to function, id say the diffrence between people in that sittuation definatly is diffrent from many higher functioning peoples sittuation and may not even be genetically related in all instances. many people with aspergers or what not work for tech companies and some of them are heavily intelectual in nature. i dont think that telling a person rasing a child thats mentally ret*d or is emotionally unstable and sits in a corner making weird noises all day that they shouldent use the word cured because a overeducated scholar finds it offensive is completly rediculous. also id like to point out that brains develop over time. things like extreme trauma, drug use, emotional state, sleep deprovision, etc can and do all efect how a child develops. its possible that he was having health issues or depression or that there was something in the water that was effecting his physical or mental health that is no longer affecting him anymore and since autism has no one cause and its a somewhat loosley defined group, at the oment it could very well be compared to a social class or the like since there is no actual physical carechteristics etc that are atached to it. if he was acting autistic and then stopped acting autistic it could very well be argued he was autistic and then stoped being autistic.
No, you need to get told off. Going around spouting slander is disgusting, and now you're at it again. People aren't stupid, they can easily go back and read what was actually posted, "didn't read an unrelated article in its entirety, therefore has no good intent" is utter crap and you know it's utter crap. You just don't want to accept facts, and don't have the decency to admit you were wrong, not condescending to treat you as such.

as....... you know what man? i think the bullies are in your head. all i see is people with diffrent opinions then you. personaly if i had a kid who was severly disabled i would tottally want them to be "cured". id want them to have the best life they possibly could have and if they sudenly went from mentally ret*d to might be able to hold a job one day i dont think cured woud be the wrong term at all. asuming that were in the same boat as a kid who cant talk just because society says we are because we all take the same meds is f*****g ridiculous. the truth is that not everyone who is supposed to be like us is really that much like us. the people who get the diagnosis range from serial killers to child savants to the mentally ret*d. understand that when i say that i can understand where this article is comming from.
