I have enormous respect for Ferralucce. In many ways.[ for real, though what I am about to write is "tongue in cheek"] I'm hoping that he joins us and helps make Aspergia the film capital of the world. Also that he allows me to sell his books in my "ice cream parlour/grill/gift store/consignment and good soap for those working in waste management shop/ magical socializing place."

The conceptualisation of the aspie country didn't exclude NTs from living there! It excluded them from the political power to run the country their way.

I apologise, it was confusing and I should have explained it more clearly to make a distinction between formal citizenship (voting rights etc) and non-citizen inhabitants. Like you, I am not in favour of separatism - we share the planet with NTs, we're all part of the human race. An aspie-run state was what I really meant.

Looking at the policiticians who run our countries now - the lies, kickbacks, sectional interests, corruption - I can't see that it would be either as bad or worse. Democracy has been hijacked in most countries to best serve the wealthy, the powerful, rather than the common good. I don't know if Aspies could do better. It would be different. Politics is the formulation and enforcement of policy, and the management (or mismanagement) of revenue, wherever it occurs.

I think we could and would do so much better. I can not see us receiving our own country, but I am excited about the autistic neighborhood communities in the planning stages right now. [including the one our family is working on] I believe that a community of individuals who do not tend to admire and agree with others based on their predatory behavior a plus. I believe that a community that does not need "omegas" to use as scapegoats a plus. I believe that a community that does not worship facades, pretentiousness and alpha traits a plus. I believe a community that does not base "worthiness" on physical beauty, adherence to the current seasons makeup palette, hair and clothing styles a plus. I believe that a community where the most revered are not the ones who greedily pursue huge material wealth for themselves a plus. I believe that a community that respects and encourages individuality and pursuit of passions, a plus. I believe that a community with less blaring sounds, fewer people feeling entitled to physically touch another without their permission, and eliminates crazy lights a plus. I believe that a community that believes people of all ages should be allowed to be friends with people both younger and older than themselves, a plus. I believe that a community where those in residence DO consider themselves their brothers keeper [or at least part of their support team] and agrees that it does take a village,[ a village where bullying is NEVER considered alright or "not that big of a deal"] to raise a child, a plus.

I could go on and on, but for me the bottom line is ; A community where Autistic people are not treated so badly that their young people have a 28 TIMES higher rate of attempted,planned, and succesful suicides than NT young people raised in an NT culture. Happy and stable people, a HUGE plus.

Vicky, I have a couple of questions.

You may have answered this one already, but I haven't seen it. This community you keep talking about inside an already existing community. Is the already existing one the nudist colony? I'm just curios.

Other question, purely philosophical in regard to your post above. I think sometimes that the reason that we Aspies aren't as mean as non aspies is because we are at the bottom of the chain and have no standing to be mean. I'm not saying all of us, but on the average it seems sensible to think that any group of people will be just as malicious as any other group (well maybe not Nazis).

What I'm getting at is once Aspies are separated from the social pressures of survival that exist on the non Aspie world, don't you think a normal hierarchy will fall into place and some of them will wind up on the bottom? Didn't you even mention something like that happening at your retreat? I'm not saying I know it will, I just don't particularly think Aspies are any more saintly than anybody else. (I keep saying Aspie, I mean Autistic.)
