-Aspies are nothing but fleshy computers
-Aspies stink at social communication and etiquette
-Aspies are apathic and do not care for the emotions of others
-Aspies are "anal retentive" and only care about useless factoids
-Aspies speak in a monotone devoid of even the slightest emotion
-Aspies don't swear
-Aspies talk with an air of superiority
-Aspies are doomed to stay single unless a girl takes pity on them
-Aspies are only male
-Aspies are little more than children and need constant care and supervision
-Aspies are only into "Autistic things"
-Aspies have embarrassing "episodes" (spasms)
-Aspies are just faking it for attention
-Aspies are your typical nerds/geeks
-Aspies aren't emotional

Gosh we are stereotyped so much...

I really want to challenge the idea that people with autism are somehow less deserving of fair and equal treatment in all areas of life. The very idea that they should be treated less favourably because they're just born different really disgusts me and is the main motivator of my vigorous campaigning online, even if it attracts trolls and bad attitudes from employers.

I back you up, the way some people look at autistics is just appalling.

It's also the main reason I'm making my feature film, follow @FMylifeoncamera as I learned that I'm not allowed to promote that here (as my previous thread on this forum got deleted and reported as spam).

Aspies don't understand sarcasm, metaphors or any other form of figurative language.

Yup, we are literal minded people who balk at the idea of even giving a joke.

The worst: aspies are the more rational and more logic thinkers and high-functioning Aspergers can compensate their lack of cognitive empathy by thinking more. Which is the biggest BS on earth, and for humanity the most detrimental one.
The entire idea that autistic people lack empathy. This is pure BS. :x

I was talking about COGNITIVE empathy and not affective empathy. In reference to the so-called "Empathy Imbalance Hypothesis of Autism" (http://opensiuc.lib.siu.edu/tpr/vol59/iss3/9/).
I just downloaded the article. I read a part of it and I think I understand: Cognitive empathy means figuring out what people are up to, "reading" other people. I know that I'm deficient in this. I need to have issues spelled out, I don't "get" implicit stuff or non-verbal stuff. So it looks as though we agree on this.

However, lay people only think "empathy." One of my brothers thought that my other brother has Asperger's because he "lacks empathy" as in not caring what other people think or being inconsiderate. I don't know if my brother has Asperger's or not. He took one of those "autistic quotient" tests and didn't score in the Asperger's range. I did and later got a formal diagnosis of high-functioning autism.

Wow I hope I'm not perpetuating a stereotype by saying logic > emotions ... That's literally how I feel about pretty much everything and why I was able to cut loose many toxic relationships in my past. Though from the looks of it you guys have pretty much covered everything that has ever been said to me anyway.

The only thing I haven't seen is the one where people say that we're robotic. My own brother has told me that I'm robotic but I say that's better then being run by petty emotions.

Petty emotions? I'm sorry but I would rather have "petty emotions" than be seen by both you and society as nothing but a cold, unfeeling machine devoid of any sort of empathy. I am not just a machine that can be ignored or pushed aside, because I have feelings and emotions, and autistic or not i am still a person.

- Aspies don't enjoy writing, particularly if it's creative writing such as poetry
- Aspies, in all of their social oblivion, aren't concerned with social or human rights issues in spite of not consistently speaking
- Aspies read a strict diet of nonfiction (I suit this one to some extent, although good poetry anthologies, short stories, and novels will appeal to me if they have some philosophical basis or a basis in reality)
- Aspies are either hypersexual or are too immature, sheltered, and unintelligent to have a concept of sexuality
- Aspies don't listen to a variety of music genres (I like all except country)
- Aspies cannot successfully graduate high school, go to college, and obtain a career
- Aspies DONT stim (I have had the camps of those with children on the "lower" end of the spectrum, that is if you look at it as a linear scale, tell me that my stimming is mere fidgeting and therefore I am not autistic because I can speak)
- Female Aspies are aloof and have an air that is stereotypically-unkind in a feminine manner (to put it discreetly)

And much of what others have said, such that girls and women cannot be autistic/an Aspie, and that we are either savants, the product of a failed vaccine, or too intellectually-incompetent to comprehend anything.
